KNS needs a new pilot.

Riot 01-29-2008 02:55 PM

Lets see the replay - she had run, had to stop it and cut outside after it was started - Rosie placed her perfectly but looks like a horse came in on her.

Great effort! She ran up a little closer today. Placed perfectly with this bunch, she'll get her win! In the money and close up twice in a row, not too shabby!

I saw that coming when they were going down the backstretch... boxed in and couldn't break free from it.

MISTERGEE 01-29-2008 02:56 PM

not for anything guys but the horse ran fantastic i think, but the jock is another thing. i know it is easy to blame the jock but i would only use homeister on a horse that would either drag her to the front or stalk up close on the outside. the combo of ward and averil is very hard to beat though. your horse showed alot today

10 might come down ?

What race were you watching ?

Problem with Homeister is she isnt an aggressive rider. Put a better jock on the horse and next time out ya might get to the winners circle. That being said nobody was beating the winner.

Riot 01-29-2008 02:59 PM

I thought she looked pretty good down there - two off the rail, stayed in touch just off the pace. She was clear at the head of the stretch, but the ten came over and crowded the seven into her, then she had to get out around the 10. Rosie rode good.

Not to mention that she ran evenly the whole way around. Her signature late burst was just not there today. If there was any doubt as to who the winner would be, those questions were answered on the backstretch, approaching the turn with the 10 making her sweeping move like that. Everyone else was vieing for second.

I agree, nobody was beating the 10 today.

tiggerv 01-29-2008 03:02 PM

The 10 definitely came over but certainly not enough to come down.

KnS definitely doesn't run her best until she gets open and away from traffic. I would argue she needs to be placed out wide in the last turn even if it means giving up ground to get that late kick started earlier. I think she can duplicate the same trip the 10 had.

pmacdaddy 01-29-2008 03:03 PM

Another game effort for Dee Tee.

Wish we avoided the dead heat, but she looked good.

Hoping to fly to Tampa for next one! Homefully we get a field more like last time...

Many Others 01-29-2008 03:06 PM

just watched the head-on KNS coulda thrown in the towel after the jostling there, almost thought for a split second was gonna, but didn't - tough little filly, was a very very game effort - congrats to the winner and to us for our deadheat third, and we still get to keep our condition, yes !!

Riot 01-29-2008 03:07 PM

I think KNS closing kick was there, she and the 10 started at the same time coming off the turn, but after 4 strides KNS had to interrupt and go out when the 10-7 came in on her. Bad racing luck. 7 fell back, then KNS had to go outside the 10 to get clear and restart. The margin between them pretty much stayed the same as they both hit their best. Good race, 10 won, finishing strong.

hoovesupsideyourhead 01-29-2008 03:11 PM

lets face facts she was in tough today..and ran well.. but..her win spot was last time out.....great try..

Her late burst wasn't there because she was racing against much better horses. That 10 wins that race 99 times out of 100. Running third was a very good performance here and likely another career best performance.

Riot 01-29-2008 03:15 PM

This is why I love turf racing - so much happens in the last 2 furlongs!

Thanks to Chuck, team DT, and Rosie for a great effort!

Antitrust32 01-29-2008 03:24 PM

she ran wonderful against some tough horses! Go KNS!

The 10 seemed to be the best, but did come in a little, bumped the 7 and the 7 bumped into her, then came in a bit again. I am not saying the 10 should have come down, but I am surprised that they didn't take any look at it. That being said, the 10 was tough today. She ran well considering the trip, picks up another check, hopefully next time. A little more ground and she probably gets second as the 3 was faltering at the end. Is it me or is the stretch fairly short at Tampa?

As long as Chuck gives the green light. I see a good portion of the NY contingent getting on a plane next time... Again, never had more fun with $500.

Hope we keep goin.

herkhorse 01-29-2008 04:24 PM

We got to get Rosemary to stop winning the race before our race.

Did you not see the 10 bump and drift into the 7, watch the head on. I should have stated, it might get looked at instead of come down but whatever....I was surprised they didn't at least look at it

I agree...That's the trip I'm looking for as her best chance to win. The 10 started her run earlier, and was able to sustain it without traffic problems. All in all another great job by Chuck and Team Dee Tee. Man, this is fun isn't it.

pgardn 01-29-2008 04:34 PM

10 horse had a dream trip on the backstretch, very relaxing jaunt.
Impressive move wide though. That easy run on the backstretch could not have hurt.

KNS encountered far more traffic.

could have easily placed with a clearer stretch run.
But I guees thats the turf. I like the horse. I like the effort.
Good show boys and girls.

LOL ! I thought about that, too!

I thought Rosie did a good job. This filly likes her, relaxes under her, listens to her, and tries for her. Like Sumwon likes Willie best.

Scav, I agree. It should have at least been looked at. Would love to see this girl get a clear trip, still not sure that she was better than the 10. But the 10 definitely came in. Doubt it was enough to take her down, but was enough to have an effect on KNS' trip.

Scav 01-29-2008 04:46 PM

She isn't beating the 10 today, even with the ride that the 10 got, which was less then fluid

I would switch runs with the 10.
A little rough at first, but nice relaxing
ride on the backstretch, being clear and running
easily without horses on both sides is a luxury
for that amount of ground.

I would do, I am talking about the jock, the 10 won despite being ridden like he was a monkey, he wasn't fluid and had zero control

pweizer 01-29-2008 04:57 PM

I would wait for Chuck's thoughts but couldn't have been more pleased with the race. The winner was simply a better horse. I think she got a good ride and ran her race. If you look at the competition, this race was much tougher than her last. Yet she ran well in each. Hopefully, next time will be the charm.

Thanks to Steve, Chuck, TC, and the stable group for letting me be a part of it all.

Paul

The 10 closed off a pace of 1:18+ and did it effortlessly and won easily. That horse was just plain better.

If any horse was forced to lodge
an objection, it would have to be the
7 horse imo after watching the head on.

No doubt.
went wide early in the turn indicating the horse
had more than enough.
Another furlong and the horse wins by more.

Danzig 01-29-2008 05:39 PM

just got home and watched the tape of the race. what a finish! shame our gal couldn't get the top prize, but with all things considered, she did very well to finish third.

just hope she came out well.

Kasept 01-29-2008 06:09 PM

MNS came out of the race in fine order... Spoke to Chuck in bits and pieces during the Show.

Chuck's thoughts:

"She ran very solidly.."

"Never got to really unwind the way it unfolded.."

"May need to swing out for clear running earlier.."

"Really runs like a turf horse enjoying 'cover' and then getting going once outside horses.."

"Worth every cent of her claim price.."

We'll let her freshen and get after it again! Thanks to everyone for being here and enjoying the experience... And thanks of course to Chuck, TC, Socks and Rosie.

More news as it happens and a report from Ocala on Aldebutante coming soon!
