It's all about pitching my friend...the lineup means nothing. Just look at the AL Central. White Sox...world champions in 2005...greatly improved their offense in 2006...no playoffs. Detroit...world series in 2006...greatly improved their offense in 2007...no playoffs. Improved it again this year...big deal. Cleveland...far worse offense in 2007 than 2006...under .500 in 2006...1 game from world series in 2007.

It appears to me from 3 separate teams in the AL Central...the worse your offense, the better you do (that shouldn't happen, but completely proves it is all about the pitching...not your lineup.) Isn't Zumaya still hurt?? Detroit had one of the best offenses last year...how have they improved their bullpen this year??

$11 million for 2 years for Dotel. Something like 56 innings pitched the last 3 years. I can't believe he could command that kind of money. If you want to pump him up to 7 million a year and load it with incentives, that's one thing. But locking up 11 million for 2 years on a injury prone 34 year old setup man seems questionable.

He must have a really good agent

I guess the key is that the injuries were muscle injuries and not arm problems. Still a big risk for a non-closer. We'll see if he can still hit 95-96 on the gun like he did in his days in Houston.

His elbow surgery would still be the biggest factor i would guess. He was at one time a pretty tough bullpen option.
