Maybe Vick could "handle" the molesters like he did the losing dogs. That would make me appreciate him more.

Ha, good idea Cannon.

2MinsToPost 08-21-2007 06:37 PM

Ok I am going to speak about this in short form. If in fact Vick killed some of those dogs with his own hands the way the media is reporting and an NFL team signs him after his release shame on them. Second chances, even third are all fine and dandy for your run of the mill mistakes etc etc but.............

This is beyond the scope of what it means to be a human being. If he did in fact kill those dogs with his own hands OR knew of this going down, he deserves to spend A LOT MORE TIME in a HARSHER PRISON then what he no doubt will get.

I want to go into other areas about this case but in respect for this board and my not getting banned I will refrain. This case has been a real, real thorn in my side and wil continue to be until the ACTUAL FACTS come out.

Does not help when I see a woman last week wearing a Vick jersey at the Grocery Store I work.

Danzig 08-21-2007 06:40 PM

i've said before at work, i'm all for second chances--but his second chance will be at learning value for life, and for what he had and wasted and blew away with his own stupidity.
as for a second chance in the nfl--ain't gonna happen.

Nascar1966 08-21-2007 06:42 PM

Hopefully the FEDS will catch up to Barry Bonds pretty soon, now that they have busted Vick.

The Bid 08-21-2007 06:53 PM

Bonds should be easy to catch, its hard to run from the feds when you have a 45lb head

I am completely sick of listening to ESPN speculating on the fate of Vick's NFL career. They hyped Vick for years and featured him endlessly based on his athletic prowess rather than on his on-the-field successes. Though Vick has yet to formally accept a plea agreement or hear his sentence, ESPN has begun promoting the notion during its football telecasts that with a healthy donation to PETA and with some 'genuine' sound bites of contrition, Vick should be back in the league by '09 or 2010.

Let's hope that PETA is not like that assembly of whores that is headquartered in Bristol, CT. I believe that before PETA ever holds is kimono wide open and accepts blood money from this monster, it will cease to exist.

For Vick, is it wishful thinking to hope he gets a chance to get hogtied in his 'rape stand' for the amusement of the lads in cell block C ?

zaban on fox sports radio says his career is OVER, and i agree.

and yes, to hear tirico asking jaws and kornheiser what vick can do to get his career back on track was disturbing imo. ready to move on so quickly, and the case isn't even settled yet!

but the worst was the morning mike and mike were off--and lee corso, kirk and reese were filling in--and corso was laying ALL of the blame for this on vicks friends-none of it on the man behind it all. ridiculous. but then, i've never cared for corso anyway.
i'd love to take his pencil and

:o

ArlJim78 08-21-2007 08:20 PM

there is no way the NFL could have this guy in a uniform on the field again, i don't care how big a donation he makes to PETA.

Mortimer 08-21-2007 08:27 PM

Uh..and I do so hate to be a poopee here...but the biggest shame is anyone caring about pro sports this much.Outside of what the swine did....who cares?

Only the money silly fans toss at these fools makes it a big deal to everyone involved.

In fact all sports is getting pretty sickening .

Stop being sporty fans.

Time.

Give it time while he does time.

And the revulsion will die down.

Especially if he shows some sort of true compassion and an understanding that what he did was revolting.

People have short memories. Which is good... and bad.

Marv Albert bit a woman in the butt.
Basically attacked her the story went.
Where is Marv today?

To quote a famous DT'er: Apples and oranges.

The woman probably enjoyed the a$$ biting. :p

Since he has yet to show any remorse, since he doesn't think he did anything wrong, I seriously doubt he will all of the sudden realize it in jail. he'll realize how much he phucked up, but that's about it.

Have you heard a live interview with him yet?
I have not.
I do not know how much remorse he has shown, real or acted out.
He has made no comment on the seriousness of his crime.
He just denied doing it.

I hope you are right. I hope people are like you and dont forget this one.
But they clearly have numerous times, especially with athletes.

George Gervin sucker punched another player while at Eastern Michigan and hurt him really bad.
He got thrown out of school. He is a legend in San Antonio. I wonder how many people who know basketball even know this happened. I realize he was a young kid and made a mistake. But it was a thought out sucker punch during a game. Im just saying people forget and I hope they dont.

hi_im_god 08-21-2007 09:38 PM

even if the nfl doesn't ban him, there are a limited number of owners that would accept him as the face of their franchise.

marketing campaigns are built around these guys. you can be accused of murder and still play linebacker. i don't think that's true of qb.

it was a pretty big question mark whether anyone could build a superbowl team around vick anyway. scramblers create problems on both sides of the line.

he'll be at least 2 years older and that question will be magnified when he's 29. then you add in the difficulty selling a fan base on a pet killer as the main guy.

pgardn 08-21-2007 09:48 PM

I am just being the cynic contrarion as a public service.

I cant see how any human being could torture animals who do not know any better. He got pleasure out of seeing animals go through maulings. I completely dont get it and I never have. And then he could actually kill them when they were PASSIVE? totally beyond me.

I hope people dont forget this one.

ArlJim78 08-21-2007 09:52 PM

its going to be hard to tidy up the sadistic dog killer image.
i just think that sponsors, the league and the owners are going to want to get this behind them fast and not look back.

hi_im_god 08-21-2007 09:59 PM

can you imagine how many nooses with stuffed animals are hanging from visiting stadiums when he's in town? there's a marketing dream come true.

he should be praying for al davis' health.

I for one think that once this news gets to prison he will be treated like a molester or pervert. he might not make it out. NOW THAT will be a story

Couldn't agree more. I highly doubt he ever shows any remorse for those dogs... the only thing he'll regret is getting caught.

Rags 08-22-2007 12:06 AM

This was a cool and calculated act by Vick and his accomplices. It was not an act of rage or a one time mistake.

Irregardless of any prison time he will receive the public has a short memory and Americans like to forgive. It is going to be the NFL's job to see that he never plays another down in their league. If the NFL shirks their responsibility then it is the owner's themselves that must step up and see that he is never offered another contract.

There is no margin for error in this type of ongoing cruelty. These actions by Vick and others should never be forgiven or excused.

SentToStud 08-22-2007 05:29 AM

Vick will be back in the NFL. There are lots of convicted felons and wife beaters in the NFL. As long as there is room for guys like A.J. Feeley and Joey Harrington in the league, there will be a place for Vick.

Not gonna happen. Vick will be treated like a hero in the joint. Dont forget dogfighting is very popular in certain parts of the country. Some people even feel that he didnt do anything wrong. He will play in the in the NFL again KP

You think all of those sorry mother f uckers in there are going to be running to him with open arms? Please... let's get real here. All they're going to see is some punk who they KNOW will get out earlier than them because of who he is. I highly doubt he'll be popular.

Let's see if I have this right:

He should be banned for life from the NFL for his gambling. Just like Alex Karras, Art Schlichter and Paul Hornung were. Wait, they were only suspended and let back in the following season.

Kill three teenagers with a DUI=spend a year in jail and come back to the NFL-
Reggie Rogers

Kill a woman with a DUI=spend 90 days in jail and suspended for eight games.

Kills dogs=should spend your life in prison and be banned from the NFL for life.

Yeah, that sounds like the way it should be. I'd love to see the NFL rep that would get to explain to the families of those four HUMANS killed by Reggie Rogers and Leonard Little why the value of the dogs' lives mean more than their loved one's did and the penalty should be stiffer.

Yeah, I'm the one that doesn't get it. Dog lives are more important than human lives. Why can't I get that?

Well, you are right. The NFL is by far the most competitive sports environment there is. Both at the player level and team level. As long as he is better than someone else, he'll play. That's all there is to it.

There aren't too many QB's that he is better than. He may have been a high profile guy but he was not really very good, especially for the amount of $$$ he was getting.

I agree that Leornard Little and Reggie Rogers should have been banned for a specific amount of time. Where it gets tricky is in the crimes they committed. Driving under the influence is a crime, as is dog fighting. However, Rogers and Little did not mean to kill anyone. They did and they should have been punished. But Vick acted in cold blood. Killing basically for the sake of killing. I realize it was not a human, rather an animal, but to me it's the same.

I wouldn't say that I don't see anything wrong with killing dogs. I just don't get as outraged by it as others do. I saw dog fighting for years and while it is barbaric and something I wouldn't do and don't have any interest in watching, it just doesn't evoke the same emotion in me as it does others.

So because those guys didn't mean to do it, it's ok that they should be allowed to come back? They DID mean to drink and they DID mean to drive. They were just as responsible for their actions as Vick was for his.

U say that Vick acted in cold blood. I agree. U say he was killing basically for the sake of killing. I agree again. What is hunting? Taking a gun, hiding out in the woods, waiting for a defenseless animal to come along........then shooting him and putting his head on your car or on your wall. For what? For sport. Isn't that killing just for the sake of killing? Do u feel just as bad for the mother deer that's out in her own environment just trying to survive and gets her head blown off and isn't there to take care of her young? Just so the hunter can brag to his friends and show it off? For the sake of what? Let's be honest here. In either case, it's defenseless animals being killed for human enjoyment. Why is that given a pass? U can even wake up early on Sunday mornings and watch it on ESPN.

Here's the thing. If he participated in dog fighting it would be one thing. But hearing about how he acted out the killings of the "weaker" dogs, it's pretty sickening. I cannot fathom how a human being can hang a dog and then if it doesn't die, drown it. Sorry, that's phucking sick.

Agree totally! I have long been known as one who is against hunting as well, simply don't see the murderous joy in it...that said, some folks do suppliment their food supply by hunting and I feel they have that right. Basically, if you have limited income and you feed your family by hunting...well, the Wiccan God is horned in honor of the hunt. Hunting is NOT a sport imo...others will disagree. Still, dog fighting is ILLEGAL and the details of Vick's (still) alleged involvement are sickening. No, not meaning to harm someone is not a free pass when one does, we are each responsible for our acts, drunk, stoned or sober. The problem, as I addressed before, with bringing up other folks is that it clouds the main issue...did Vick commit numerous cold-blooded felonies, if he pleads guilty as reported, the answer is "yes"...so, his punishment must be decided by the judge. The NFL has a problem, this is the time to take a stand and ban this (alleged) scumbag for life, anything else will make a mockery of their system regardless of past mistakes. Lets be clear here...he lied about being involved, murdered defenseless animals, gambled huge sums of money, and did all this across state lines....the only NFL he should ever be a part of would be "Notorious F**kups for Life"!
