little mares aren't necessarily the answer, the babies could do a lot of damage if they're big like their dad.

but yeah, namewise the sky's the limit.

SWLY rented boyfriend

What about EEN-VAH-SOR?

As a new stallion he may be relatively inexpensive and we could call the offspring Alguien te amo

Holy Ground, Barbaro's half brother is an A++ nick for Sumwon.

Normally, when you have a smaller mare, you want to breed to a larger stallion so that the foal might have some size. As for trying to correct a longer pastern... there are no guarantees regardless. JMO. I don't care for Rock Hard Ten as a whole, so he wouldn't be my first choice anyway.

Sumwon and RHT have an A nick.

yeah, i know smaller and larger--but rh10 is far larger than most. it can be tricky--i mean, can you see megahertz for example?? yikes

as for rh10, definitely far from my first choice, VERY far.

Well, he isn't Rock Hard TEN for nothing! :D

I'd like to see her bred to a nice stallion by Saint Ballado. That nick is a good one IMO.

How about Straight Man? He's a nice looking stallion.

Cajungator26 07-23-2007 11:45 AM

Here are some foal names:

Sumwon x Holy Ground:

Sumwon Holy
Holy Won
Holy Molly (for a filly)
Grounded Love
Mysteriousville

Sumwon x Straight Man:

Sumwon Straight (LMFAO-couldn't help myself.)
Melodious Love
Unbroken Won
Set Them Straight
She's Sum Saint (filly) or He's Sum Saint (colt.)

Danzig 07-23-2007 11:48 AM

i thought of flame thrower, also by saint ballado as it turns out..
then you could name it sum like it hot.

Danzig 07-23-2007 11:50 AM

hey cajun, what about burning roma?

My only thought concerning that matchup is the distance she'd have to be shipped in order to be bred... he stands out in Cali.

Wow, that's interesting! I love the Turn To and Herbager in there (the old Claiborn).

Two questions: What are the St Ballado babies like temperment-wise, with the Halo in there?

Conformationally, Sumwon needs the most help with strong, straight front legs (she toes out) - what is that like, in that lines' foals?

This is fun - learning alot about pedigrees!

Cajungator26 07-23-2007 01:44 PM

Riot, to be honest, I think that it depends on the dam of the stallion too. If you have a quiet mare and breed to an unruly and temperamental stallion, your chances are probably 50/50 that the resulting foal will be either quiet or temperamental. Using Jazil as an example... his sire, Seeking the Gold is a nasty SOB, but Jazil didn't inherit that demeanor. I would guess (and I'm only guessing because I have never personally been around Better Than Honour) that Jazil inherited a quieter personality from his dam.

In regards to conformation, some stallions with what I would consider poor conformation have sired perfect specimens in the conformation department. Sometimes I wonder if it's a total crapshoot.

Here is Holy Ground:

and here is Straight Man:

Sightseek 07-23-2007 01:46 PM

Barbaro must have inherited all the looks in the family.

Riot 07-23-2007 01:56 PM

Straight Man has "that head", doesn't he? :)

Both nice stallions, with their pluses and minuses. Too bad you can't "cut and paste" the two together to get exactly what you like :p It's always a compromise, hum?

His back is too short for my liking.

deltagulf 07-23-2007 02:26 PM

If I look at him from a comfort standpoint, I see fault in that too. A shorter back means a stronger back, but it also means a rougher ride. LOL

I prefer horses with longer backs myself... my gelding was nicknamed 'The Flying Sofa' because his back was so long... he was awesome to ride though. :)

Cajungator26 07-23-2007 02:30 PM

Straight Man really is gorgeous... I wonder what their foal would look like...

Way later on, at this point - Chuck has posted that the current plan is to run at Saratoga, then take some time off, then come back for her 4-year-old year at the Fairgrounds.

It's an interesting exercise, however!

i like shorter backs..probably comes from watching show jumping, and wondering how that loooong sob was going to nail the triple combo.

Interesting. Does anyone know how Perfect Soul has been doing? I don't recall when he entered stud. Runners? Success?

Hell, let's just get her bred to Freefourinternet.

Matter of fact, I can't wait to see what his turn out like. Always liked that one's versatility.

Here's Free's first foal:

And here are the 2006 foals for Perfect Soul. His first crop are yearlings of 2007... most of them look very 'turfy.' :D

Image 7 of 15 (chestnut filly out of Gender Dance) will be a champ (I hope.) She's gorgeous.

He is! The foal would probably be pretty good looking. The name potentials you've come up with, alone, are quite intriguing!

I want to see a front view, standing and moving! (off to BloodHorse, he may have a video there)

Interestingly enough, the colt in the 4th photo is built a lot like Lear Fan, although it's tough to tell how he'll really turn out as an adult.

Not a fan of Lear Fan either. LOL

Alphabet Soup got all pretty for Sumwon:

A horse that's not attractive to me (nobody shoot me, please) is A.P. Indy... he's got awful conformation, but then you get a nicely conformed horse like Bernardini. I guess you never can tell...

Alphabet Soup is a gorgeous boy. Gotta love the horse shiat smeared all over him. :D

I love all of his babies though. Bernardini was stunning...my jaw dropped the first time I saw him. Looks like Pulpit is competing with the ole man with the belly though

http://www.finalturngallery.com/g2/v...ulpit.jpg.html

I think Pulpit has some real beautiful horses out there, but some of them look so dainty.

You really like your greys huh?
