Sounds like a pretty good dude. I wonder if Benoit and Bobby Cutts and Oj ever went out as a threesome to play golf

FlBred 06-26-2007 01:08 PM

Very Sad and bizarre story to say the least

I hope they dont bring steroids into this. Its hard enough to get steroids now, after this story it may be nearly impossible.

What a terrible terrible story. I just don't get it. How do you kill your family? You are supposed to protect them. I can't wait to get home and hug my kids!

The Bid 06-26-2007 01:19 PM

Math, I read your post real quick and I thougth you said hang your kids. I had to reread it. Where normal people want to get home and see their kids, lunatics like Benoit, and Bobby Cutts are killing their wife and kids.

Im sure marraige is a terrible thing, but I wouldnt kill anyone over it, especially the kids

MaTH716 06-26-2007 01:28 PM

It is just so disturbing. That little boy had his whole life ahead of him, and it was taken away from him from the person that was supposed to protect him and love him the most. I am just sickened. I do not know what his marriage situation was, but his wife didn't deserve her fate either.

Cajungator26 06-26-2007 01:29 PM

How awful!

Antitrust32 06-26-2007 01:33 PM

Its a weird case. From listening to the guys on WWE last night, it didnt seem like Benoit was the type to strangle his wife and smother his child and hang himself.

Maybe its a psychotic reaction to steroids or another drug?

Whatever happened, it is very sad.

Coach Pants 06-26-2007 01:35 PM

I'm still wondering why this is in the sports section. Hillbilly Jones 'rasslin isn't a sport.

It's a tough loss for the family and friends, but really, what did his wife expect when she married a roided up French Canadian?

I doubt she expected for her and her child to be murdered.

Well that's a possibility when your husband finds out he's been demoted to the minor leagues of fake 'rasslin.

The Bid 06-26-2007 01:44 PM

As if being French Canadian wasnt bad enough, Benoit takes it to a new level

Danzig 06-26-2007 01:54 PM

i can't begin to imagine what could possibly bring a person to do such a thing to his family. to his own child. but then you have cutts, the other guy who shot his wife, his kids, and then himself ( in the thigh) and claimed the wife did it before committing suicide....
it is sickening. but so many things these days are. i just heard yesterday about a woman whose husband molested her daughter, yet she wants to continue like they're one big happy family, no cops, why he's a nice guy!

crazy world these days.

how the hell do you smother your child? if dante were alive today, i wonder how many circles of hell he'd have included...

What does being French Canadian have to do with murdering your wife and child? Let me give you a hint:

Zilch.

Obviously youve never been to Montreal

No, but its hard to turn off the French Canadian douchebag switch

some places are meant for inane comments i suppose, altho i'd be hard-pressed to think that a thread about a man killing his wife and only child and then committing suicide is one of them.

That's why I hated the fact they did the whole Benoit history special on WWE the night it came out. I'm one of the first people to say Mental Health problems in humans are a true fact of life. I hope anyone out there who needs help gets it. Sometimes I question myself on this after things like this happen.

no doubt absolutely something just wasn't right there. but you have to wonder how many of his demons were brought on by his own actions--if the steroid talk is true... at any rate, certainly not the actions of a normal person by any means.

Coach Pants 06-26-2007 02:28 PM

Yeah have some class. We're talking about a professional rassler!! LOL.

We should all strive to have enough class to one day equal the amount of class that is in Vince McMahon's pinkie toe.

i'm certainly no fan of rass..er, wrestling. the class i suppose tho comes in that there are some innocent victims who were killed by what was supposed to be their favorite person in the world. may not have gotten so much press if he drove for fedex, but they don't deserve anything more or less based on his profession.

Whatever his profession was, this is a sad story. Cases like this typically make the news regardless.

Coach Pants 06-26-2007 02:38 PM

What's sad to me is that people still are paying to see these guys perform after all of the deaths and accusations of rampant abuse of steroids and the supposed encouragement by the people in charge.

What's sad is that wrestling will probably grow stronger from this tragedy. A huge, dysfunctional family bonding together in a time of crisis.

The non-racing public doesn't have the rosiest views of horseracing either...

Did one of Asmussen's horsies kill a mare and her foal and then himself? If not, I fail to see your point.

I was referring to your steroid comment and encouragement by people in charge.

FlBred 06-26-2007 02:45 PM

There is a HUGE oversight on the point here.......Its not whether he is a wrestler on roids, a CEO on cocaine or a ditch dgger who drinks a 12 pack a day......the fact of the matter is that an innnocent wife and son were taken by the one person in the world who is supposed to protect, love and care for them no matter what. There was obviously something extremely wrong and unfortunately innocent people got caught in the middle......Mental illness does not discriminate against occupation and nationality!!

And it's not just professional wrestlers who kill their wives and children. I can understand you don't like wrestling...I feel the same about NASCAR, but I don't view the entire industry as classless.

I really don't know if he was mentally ill. All I heard what was just on the news, that he asphixiated (sp) his wife and son, then hanged himself in the basement. My guess is that he must have been very disturbed mentally to do this. I feel badly for his wife and son, and wish he had gotten help.
Seems that there are lots of stories lately about fathers killing their wives and children in the news. Tragic stuff!

Agreed...

My sister feels that way in fact. She finds horseracing cruel.

So this makes the fact that he took the life of his wife and child a non issue or no big deal?? what do all of these folks listed have to do with this situation, besides that they shared the same profession?

I would think mental illness most definitely does 'discriminate' against occupation.
