there was talk on espn radio that the tour "suggested" she quit the tourny last week because if she shot 88, she'd lose her exemptions? |
Quote:
Its called "Rule 88". It basically states that if a NON-MEMBER (Michelle is not a member) of the LPGA shoots a score of 88 or higher in a tournament round, they are suspended from playing in any tour events for 1 year. If Michelle has finished bogey-bogey on her last two holes, she would have shot 88. |
yep, so she bailed due to an 'injury', and then went out next day and practiced...

almost....it was 2 days after her bail out. Either way Deb, she is heading down the wrong track. Too bad it is too late for her to play for Stanford. I do hope she enrolls in school and stays there. |

I think the only ones suggesting it on the tour are the players and caddies. How far are you from Bulle Rock? |
Quote:
they needed to stick to whatever rules they had regarding age of participants and such. but the $$ were showing up in a LOT of eyes, not just the parents'. |
Can anyone say "STAGE PARENTS"?:(

Did they switch from DuPont while you were still on the tour? I've been to and played DuPont but only been by Bulle Rock....is it that nice of a track? I know T.V. rarely does a course justice, but it just looks like a mess out there...(or at least to me) I realize you can't compare the old mature courses like DuPont, Baltusrol, etc....but man, maybe cuz it's literally in the middle of nowhere...I don't know.... oh by the way..I'm about an hour and 20 minutes.... |

They were still at Dupont when I was out there...and I liked the course. Good, old classic design. I have never been to or played Bulle Rock, but plenty of friends have...and they all loved it. |

i was left pretty much to my own devices growing up--we found plenty to do--without our parents 'help', we turned out just fine. a bit scarred, with great stories tho! when did it become mandatory that parents completely structure every moment of their kids lives??? let kids be kids, let them be golf pros or whatever when they grow up, and choose on their own. |

I am truly blessed. I started playing golf in high school. I played for my high school team, played for a Div. III college and have been playing professionally since 1995. So I can't venture to guess how many tournaments I have played in the last 17 years or so....but I do know this.
My parents have seen me play golf ONCE....and even then it was only for 9 holes of a tournament....and I love them for that. They let golf be "my thing" |

having mom or dad around was a bad thing, if they were interested in what i was doing, it was probably because i was in trouble! be home by dinner, be home by dark. pretty much the rules. if it was a nice day, we were out of the house. |
seems now her 4 amatuer partners from the Monday Pro-Am this week have complained to Tour officials that Ms. Wie seemed very disinterested in playing with them.
She just don't get it.... |
She just needs to get boinked so she will chill out. Pent up agression, dude!!!

amazingly enough...so do you. I will have my people contact her people. You could owe me big time for this... |

man whore.... |

That is exactly what she needs (as soon as she turns 18 of course). |

If she stays out there long enough...one of two things is gonna happen. 1. Starts liking women or 2. A caddy ends up tapping that ass |
MW shoots an 83 today...hints she might not play the 4th round? Definately in her own world!:(

Smartest thing she has done since....well... |
Well at least she isn't showing any prejudice when it comes to the majors....pulls another classless move....+18 (or whatever she was) really makes that wrist hurt even more....On the other hand, I feel horrible for her because she got so screwed up by her Dad and Agency that she has no idea now how to handle things....I wish she had the stones to throw everyone the hell out, regroup with a new entourage and focus on golf....but I'm afraid that will never happen....
|
it's a shame that the circus around wie has gotten her to this point. she needs to take a break, take a few steps back and regroup. she also needs to become her own person! not everyone gets good parents (believe me, i know) and hers have definitely not kept her best interests at heart.

Reminds me of Sean O'hare whose father drilled him day in and da out to play. Once he finally dumped him, Sean hit his best stride and began winning.
Too much pressure. What were you doing at 16 years old? Certainly needs her life back and maybe going to college will help that. Or maybe She becomes best friends with Paris Hilton and makes a video |

hey she is going to Stanford....what do you expect?

maybe she thought Daddy would sign her scorecard for her:rolleyes:
|
I realize there's not a whole lot of sympathy for her, but PGA tournament golf sure has some absurd, bizarre and antiquated rules! I'm sorry, but disqualified because she had walked a few feet too far away from the scorer's tent before someone caught her and reminded her to sign her scorecard? That's just a tad ridiculous, don't you think?
|
Golf does have some strange rules. To me the dumbest one is rule 16-1a/13, not allowing you to fix a spike mark.
|
Quote:
Nope...it's the same for everyone. As long as everyone is playing under the same rule, there is nothing unfair about it. And this isn't just PGA Tournament golf...the same thing goes in amatuer competition as well. Michelle has been playing in tournament long enough to know the rule. |

The next day she plays the whole 18 and puts up a nice number. A full 24 hours later they disqualify the kid. 1) Doesn't it look like they let her play the 3rd round so they would have the gate of her being there given the lack of star power on the first page. 2) It's too bad the rule doesn't have something in it about a) a rules official accepting a players card. b) Once a player plays a full round the next day the signature thing on a card prior is mute or the rule is for the day of play. |

You gotta play the green as it lies other than a ball mark which is considered a potential defect. |
