Must be Derby time, when every 5 yr old kid, 35 yr old housewife and mother of 3, or homeless guy starts to bet.
Not only BET but bet on the cutest name, prettiest horse, or my favorite the horse who everybody else is betting on. Remember CURLIN as Fave LOL:D |
Maybe, but at least I know better than to start NFL threads on this forum. Thanks for the rude post.

Maybe they should be applauded for the scientific breakthrough they've achieved. I mean, even Stephen Hawking would be in awe! Fitting so many colassal egos into such a small space? Is it science or is it art? :D |

This thread seemed perfect for some ruthless behavior.....but none really materialized. If we have lost our ability to rip each other to shreds....I'm not even sure who we are anymore. Could someone maybe attack ME for awhile? It would make me feel more at home here. |
I thoight he meant SS was fom Philly Park or Penn Nat.

Once it was implied i was somehow un-American for following horsies from other lands, I stopped saying anything at all. No one noticed anyway..... they were too busy building an imaginary shrine to one who has delusions of mediocrity. |

Dont you get the feeling that the rest of the field has caught up to Street Sense? Just a feeling.
In the TB Dby, AGS was running as fast, or faster, given the ground loss. And while I dont recommend AGS, there's one horse who can finish as fast as him. THen the BG; dont know what to make of it, but Dominican made up ground on him coming from behind. So perhaps a number of horses have caught up to him? I still like him, just has me worried. The other thing that's a worry is that his style is more of a one run closer, meaning he has one burst but I dont know how far he can carry that burst. Can he carry that all the way down the long stretch at CD? If timed right maybe, but if not I dont see him as the sort who can stay out in front for very long. |

I have no desire to post on a message board that tolerates that individual. |

"Umm okay, you're hitting me, and these other horses are really close by and it's my natural instinct to run fast, but Carl says to ease up a little before the wire..." |

The other thing is it's hard to say how much help a jock adds to a horse. Sure a Jerry Bailey may occasionally pull out a win or hit the board when it was unlikely, but they cant account for a huge amount. Now take the trainer, that is another level back, how can he be fine tuning the horses speed if even the jock has little control? Quote:
But then you say he's not fully cranked? So SS runs one of the best finishes of the season but he's not fully cranked? This makes no sense to me. I think you are looking at the best of SS in his last 3 races.. |

Carl Nafzger. |
Okay, but SS set a track record in the TB derby. HOw much faster could he possibly go??
|
Quote:
The fact that he was able to beat the horse I think is the second best in the Derby field in a race he wasn't fully cranked up for tells me he may tower above this field. I don't see how I contradicted anything there. |

WHat did he run at the BC a 24.0 or something? Obviously the inner path had some effect, how much? so what do you expect him to close w/ next saturday? 23.6? 23.0?? |

perhaps a better question might be do you think he can carry that closing speed the entire stretch run? I have my doubts.
It's also interesting that the betting info we have at the moment suggests he is about 6-1 which seems somewhat lukewarm for the public's second choice. Are there enough doubts in the public eye that they see something real that would hinder him. But I dunno, is 6-1 really luke warm. SNS was what 5-1 and Barbaro 7-1? Maybe it's reasonable odds for SS.. |
