I guess there was no show wagering on the 4th at FP? Alive to the first three, but I would have gone out in round 4 with the 4th at FP had there been show wagering....

Race 4 FP

FlBred 04-24-2007 04:36 PM

So how does this show parlay work?

jman5581 04-24-2007 05:18 PM

Fl Bred, read back to the top of the thread, it's all spelled out. Basically keep betting an ever-increasing amount until you bust. :)

There was no show wagering on the race. Sometimes they will do that with a 5-horse field if they think a big minus pool is likely.

So, you're still alive on Round 3. Nice payoff on the 3rd at FL, especially on a 6-5 fav.

Here's a better summary, which mentions that jman is trying to just hit 10 in a row. (not bet until he busts)

After 10, that round is over, I will document the payouts and move on to the next round. If I pick a horse that doesn't show before reaching 10, I will start a new round. I will do this 20 rounds and we will see how it goes. I've said I think I can do this about a third of the time (although that's really just a hunch)...

jman5581 04-24-2007 06:53 PM

So far, from the first two rounds, it seems as though I will do well enough just to bet until I bust.... :)

But, yes, to be serious.... 10 consecutive show bets is what I'm going for in each round. The total payout from the previous bet gets bet to show on the next bet. That's all a parlay is.

jman5581 04-25-2007 08:20 AM

I've got 3 races at Beulah for today... Running Total through the third race was $221. That's the first show wager amount for today...

pp 1 SR King of Queens Won...Paid $2.10 Running Total $232

Race3
pp4 Scottish Miss Won...Paid $2.10 Running Total $244

Race 8

on Race 8, is the pick going to count if half the entry scratches? I would assume that it would not count, but whatever you say beforehand is okay.

jman5581 04-25-2007 01:58 PM

Only if both go. Good question...;)

But it appears as though one is a rabbit for the other. Guess we'll see...

jman5581 04-25-2007 03:15 PM

I've changed my mind....I see no reason not to go with Floater in this one.

Distress Signal scratched. Game on. :p

jman5581 04-25-2007 03:45 PM

Way to hang in there Floater!! Here's where I stand in Round 3 after 6 picks.

If you can nail those 4, you'll have a nice profit for your first 3 trials!

If one bombs, we begin Round 4... just like last time.

Dunbar 04-26-2007 04:45 PM

oh well, on to Round 4!

--Dunbar

jman5581 04-26-2007 04:51 PM

I take it that one lost, I can't watch.

Dunbar 04-26-2007 04:52 PM

ran 2nd most of the way, then passed in the stretch and finished 4th.

--Dunbar

jman5581 04-26-2007 04:53 PM

F that. I would've cashed out and moved on already anyway :)

jman5581 04-26-2007 05:05 PM

I was on the CUSP of getting started on the right foot!! Round 3 ends on a disappointing note. Ran the total up to $423 before losing on the 10th round. El Gato Famoso..... taking notes on that one.

Round 4 to commence at a time TBD. Will probably take the weekend off as I will be driving over to Louisville to watch Sumwon win her first race for Dee Tee.

I started a show parlay with Bluegrass Cat in the Derby last year. I have kept it going all year long and have now turned my $10 initial investment into 8675309. I feel like now is the time to pull my $10 out to make sure I walk away even at worst and will risk the rest of it on Storm In May. Do you think I should keep going after the derby or stop there?

All my love,
Savy Show Wager Dude

Definitely keep going. You inspire me to keep going.

jman5581 05-16-2007 07:55 PM

I'm almost ready to pick this back up. Finals week and the need for somewhat of a break have kept me at bay. I may make some picks starting tomorrow. Dunbar, if you see any 5 horse fields, let me know...makes things easier with 2 sets of eyes.

jman5581 05-16-2007 09:58 PM

Round 4, all in a day...

Here's the plan for tomorrow... all races with 6 or less entries.

I think I've got the post times right (Central time). If I'm off, or if a delay causes a shuffle in the order, I'll calculate the running tally according to the order the races actually go off (duh).

As an aside, I really like this pick for GG race 2 tomorrow at 15/1 ML (a couple "false" favorites make Evrybodycutfootloose a nice play IMO)...

1 Belmont R2 12:30 - #3 Brooke's Valentine
2 Golden Gate R1 3:05 - #1 Strange Brew
3 Churchill R7 3:15 - #3 Stormin Mon SCR Somethingtotlkabt
4 Hollywood R1 3:20 - #3 Fast Corredor
5 Golden Gate R2 3:35 - #2 Evrybodycutfootlos
6 Golden Gate R3 4:06 - #1 Hangonbabyhangon
7 Hollywood R3 4:23 - #6 Plenty Jade
8 Golden Gate R4 4:38 - #6 Call It
9 Hollywood R7 6:23 - #6 Declan's Moon
10 Golden Gate R8 6:38 - #2 PositivelyCharming

FWIW, I have enjoyed watching this thread, and have incorporated the show parlay into my wagering. Fun way to do it...

I just KNOW one of these will run off the board. Probably Footloose now that I've touted the slouch. :D

jman5581 05-17-2007 03:00 PM

The 3 in Race 7 at CD is SCR. Substitute the 2, Somethingtotlkabt.

Well, shucks again.... Hangonbabyhangon hung on to the gate or something. Another short round. I'm going to redeem myself eventually.

No show wagering in the 3rd at Hollywood. Round 6 starts with "Call It" in the 4th at Golden Gate.
