I would definitely be in for NY bred. I'm sure pointman and the "other Nick" would be in as well.
Sounds great, as does all the Sumwon happenings. |
The Jersey Bred program is not too shabby either.

I so want to join in, BUT homeowners insurance in FLorida is THROUGH THE ROOF right now. My mortgage just doubled. I WAS THIS CLOSE TO GETTING MY FIRST HORSE TOO. Have to stay with Buck for now, but that is OK his owners love having me working with him and even have me exercising another one of their horses.
But I am rooting for all of you! I will have to live vicariously through all of you for now. :) |

owning a LA bred aint too bad these days either |

Did you get another horse? |
I would be interested in the NYB as well.

thanks buffy! im happy for everyone here whos getting a chance to get involved in ownership through the partnership steve and chuck have setup!!!!! for those that are first time owners that are involved theyre bout to experience feelings theyve never known. im also thankful theyre in the right hands and wont have to go through some of the BS that i did in the past |
The feeling you all will get running one is incredible, the feeling you will get when she wins will be overwhelming.
You couldnt ask for anything more than for her to debut at Keeneland. Should be a great experience for everyone |

Without a doubt, you can count me in Steve, would love to have a piece of one on the NY circuit. |
Does participating in the Sumwonlovesyou partnership meet the ownership qualifications for obtaining an owners license??
If so is the requirement regarding insurance met also?? Licensing Standards Specific to Horse Owners The Compact shall not complete the processing of an application for a national racing license as a horse owner unless it finds that the applicant has met the general licensing standards set forth above and: a) Is at least eighteen (18) years of age; and b) Is qualified to perform the duties and functions associated with an owner’s license, including that the applicant: 1. Owns or has under lease a horse eligible to race in one or more jurisdictions; and 2. Has presented satisfactory evidence that he or she currently is covered by workers’ compensation insurance if workers’ compensation insurance is required for owners by his or her jurisdiction of residence, or the equivalent self-insurance if self-insurance is permitted by that jurisdiction, in the amount required by that jurisdiction. |

Sumwonlovesyou partners do not need to get ownership credentials. You are not required to have a license if you own under 5% of a horse, and we set this up so people could save the cost and hassle of getting licensed. Technically, no one owns more than 4% of her. And Chuck carries the insurance coverage. |
Steve,
Thanks for the reply...I understand that in this case the credentials are not required but if someone wanted to get the credentials/license would participation in the partnership fullfill the licensing requirements of ownership and insurance??? |

Quite interesting. I continue to read about this filly and the opportunities you all have created with her. Along with the possibilities of another venture. Good work, all. |

I would definitely be interested in the NYB partnership. |
Can you guys send a video off to Kentuckyrose for an assessement of soreness/soundness...if she says Sumwon is ok then my check will be in the mail immediately....I am just naturally assuming that you will also have her view a video of any NY-Bred that you are considering....
jk I'd be interested in the NY Bred partnership.. |

I had to get licensed in KY in 2003. All I needed to do was fill out an application, have a trainer, and pay them $100. Although I had an additional liability insurance through the National HPBA, I was never asked for that info. Maybe it's changed since then but I doubt it. |

Ahh, NY - a whole different beast. Haven't been licensed there since 2001 and all I recall about it was they wouldn't accept prints from any other state. It also seems like I had to have a couple hundred $$'s in my horsemen's account to cover liability insurance before I could run......but I could be wrong about that.

Each year after your initial application, the renewal process is quick and painless. I don't know if the process has changed since I originally was licensed. You can review the application at the address below. http://www.racing.state.ny.us/racing/racing.home.htm |

Chuck's Blog entry
Here's ChuckBlog entry re: Sumwon's Sunday workout and projected start..
Sunday, April 1, 2007 Sumwons CD Work http://www.deeteestable.blogspot.com/ Yesterday Sumwonloves you worked 5 furlongs in company with a 4 year old gelding named Mixteca. She started off about 2 lengths behind Mixteca going to the 5/8ths pole beginning the work. She sat behind him until they hit the far turn where she angled out and moved up beside him. They worked head to head to the wire and she was clocked in 102.2. Her gallop out was good, around 115 for 6 furlongs, and she did not seem especially tired after the work. Jockey Pat Johnson was aboard for the work and he said she changed leads perfectly and was very willing to do more if he asked her to. Partners Benny Ledger and his son were there to see the work and take pictures. They both seem like great guys and were hopeful to meet other partners at Keeneland on the 11th. We are all set for the race and I have received the call from James Graham for the race. He is a good turf rider and he will not be afraid of the price on the tote board. We will probably work her one more time next Saturday which is the same day as the entries are taken for the 11th. Assuming nothing changes between now and then we should know if we are in the race and our post position by around 2 pm next Saturday. She has come a long way in a short period of time and it is time to see where she is at. I certainly think that she will improve but she will have to in order to be competitive in an allowance race at a track like Keeneland. In the case of rain we almost certainly would run on the polytrack if the race were to come off of the turf. So you can be pretty secure in making your travel plans if we are lucky enough to draw into the race. |
Steve,
count me in on the NYB deal. NC Tony |
Steve, Sumwon has been so much fun (even without racing), I'll go in on the NYB partnership, too :)

I gotta agree with you Riot!!! This has been a lot of fun and I'm anxious to see her race. But the best part about owning her so far? NO BILLS!!!!!!!!! :) Chuck, I sure hope she gets in next Wed and you get a payday!! Can't thank you enough for your work so far and I hope she rewards you handsomely!!! (Sumwon, that is..... :) ) |
NY Partnership
Steve:
Count me in. After seeing the pics of Sumwon's latest work at CD with the twin spires how can i resist a NY Bred working out at Saratoga. Paul:) |

I am most appreciative of this rare opportunity to be, "the owner of a race horse", at an unbelievably affordable level, of your willingness to ensure we are having fun, and learning more about the sport via the ChuckBlog, your keeping us informed on Sumwon's progress, etc. I see Sumwon's workout partner from Saturday, Mixteca, is entered at KEE the 6th - good luck! |
