He can't handle Optimistic Steve, a NY Bred who beat open maidens at Gulfstream today.

Don't even get me started. His first race was the most impressive off the board finish I think of the year. Unbelievable. You know the worst thing about that race ( you get ten rattles if you actually do )? It was the week before Thanksgiving week, when they moved from the main to the inner, otherwise he would have had the perfect outside post going a one turn mile. What do you think he would have won by under those conditions?

No he's not related, Buffy.
Mr Bourbon Street ran very well at Finger Lakes during the meet there.

106 Beyer for Summer Doldrums, 97 for Sir Whimsey, 95 for Sports Town.

Lawrence The Roman is nothing more than the 2007 version of Galloping Grocer. A precocious NY bred that trounced inferior statebred company appearing much better than he actually is, who proceeds to get pounded against his vastly superior open company peers. No surprise. Smart move by his namesake owner by selling out.

What blows is he was coupled in the wagering. If he was on his own you would have gotten 8-1, easy. They were betting the other half of the entry.

Haven't we gotten sophisticated enough that all races should be uncoupled??

Point Given has 151 foals older than two years of age. Of those 37 (17%) have won and 7 (3%) have won stakes races. The second coming of Alydar or Bold Ruler he ain't. Some of the current 3 and 4 year olds may yet win, of course, and win stakes races, but since he was a huge horse with dicky ankles, one has to wonder about soundness problems being handed down.

And although the sires down the damline are all first rate, the dams have been somewhat underachieving, with only one SW, winner of Texas-bred stakes races, under the first three dams. By way of contrast, Funny Cide's second dam produced 3 SWs, one graded and 2 in open company.
