Bernardini was nowhere near "mediocre" and while I thought that Barbaro was the better of the two, I refuse to discount that Bernardini was a very nice horse.

If you think he's so mediocre, why are you so convinced about Invasor winning this weekend? Bernardini ran a good race in the Breeders Cup and finished 2nd by a length to Invasor. Your logic is skewed IMO.

altho i agree that bernardini wasn't mediocre, avances post still made me grin....

I really don't think Barbaro would have beaten Bernardini in the Preakness, but I sure would have liked to see it. I tend to believe, as many others speculate, that Barbaro may have been better on the grass.
