I sure dont. Looked like a perfect trip to me and I thought for sure he was a winner on the far turn.

he got a perfect trip--no excuses. unless you use the honest excuse that he just wasn't good enough.

invasor won all but one race in his career. he's faced the best this country had to offer. as for 'laying up' and then beating bernardini, his long layoff caused concern for many--there's fresh, and there's rusty. bernardini certainly didn't have an overly tough schedule. as for the classic, bernardini ran a race like all his others--same timewise and figurewise. problem was this time another horse was faster than he had been all year. way overrated? by whom? i think bernardini was overrated by those who thought he was seattle slew reborn. but no one went nuts all year about invasor--he only got any press after the classic!

There's a $600K or $400K race, used to be the Explosive Bid and now it something like the Muniz Memorial maybe, which makes obvious sense.

Anyone can repeat stuff from DRF and act like they are " in the know ".

I thought that race was early March but you may well be right.

So Premium Tap is apparently passing the Donn in favor of the 1 1/2 mile King's Cup in Saudi Arabia in mid February.

Well, Dynever used that 25 horse spectacle for a prep for his second place finish in the World Cup two years ago but it seems an odd race for a horse with the natural speed of Premium Tap.

blackthroatedwind 01-29-2007 10:12 PM

And the race at FG for English Channel is February 10th and a Grade 3.

JJP 01-29-2007 10:32 PM

So now English Channel will be running against a couple of Illinois breds (Fort Prado and Mystery Giver). Nobody can accuse Todd of being overly ambitious here.

Maybe they actually feel they need another week or maybe they don't want to risk losing to the horse they feel they should have won the Eclipse over. You would think it's a freeroll for English Channel, as theoretically he's supposed to lose, but apparently they are passing. It just seems so much easier to stay home...especially for a prep race in erly February.

GP routes

I thought BTW had a great idea about having two finish lines for route races as they do at Keeneland to give those with outside posts a fairer shot, instead of the quick run to the turn at 1 1/8 races. With all the wait and scratch if you draw an outside post mentality, why hasn't this idea been discussed/tried ? Now that SNS drew the 12 spot and went down, how many other trainers will go elsewhere instead of the chance of drawing an outside post at GP ? BTW, have you gotten any traction from your idea ?

Well apparently you said 100 reasons.....I want just 10 of them.

Funny....Bernardini was the next superhorse(still was a very nice horse) and Invasor took him kinda easily....Discreet Cat looks to be a monster who beat up on basicallly ok fields...but did it with such ease...not sure DC could take invasor going long

There is ZERO proof that Barbaro could have beaten Invasor...would have been some horserace if they ever met....but to say that one of them was better than the other is tough...especially after Invasor drowned everyone he met...

Showing up??????? on the dirt??????Going long ?????

Please ....you are embarassing yourself.....

I don't know how seriously this was discussed, but it is an impossibility because of Gulfstream's already short stretch. Gulfstream's full stretch is 898 feet. If you start and finish 9 furlong races at the 1/16th pole, you'd have a stretch measuring a whopping 568 feet, that's even shorter than 5/8 mile tracks like Fairplex and Los Al.

You're probably right but I would be curious to know the stretch distance at Keeneland when they use the first finish line there?
