Well, this is not new. This is the same problem(to me,it's the only problem) he has had in the last year.I have only seen it happen on favorites(like this one today.)He got away with it on FETE on 12-10 at HWD RACE 4.He got very lucky that day(it could have gone differently.)What is happening is a 50:50 situation. He usually hesitates at the wrong moment.A horse then blocks his front. The rail blocks his left.He does not respond with action. It doesn't take long for the other jocks to seal him in to his left.Just like today, the jocks in front slow the pace down(today a 45 half mile for horses that easily can go 44.) The horse to his outside does not go up and go by the leaders(no, they stay put to keep the target horse locked in.) The race becomes a 1 or 2 furlong rush to the wire(because the horses in front part of the field have done no running yet.)It's a combination of factors that allow it to play out this way(probably of prime importance was Garcia taking back incredibly on Da Stoops.)Then,Court didn't sprint clear. He also tried to lollygag. This was perfect for Prado(who seems to be best in the world at getting a horse to sprint after running slowly in the 1st part of a race.)You would have to think he would do very well in the "sit and sprint" races in Europe.Believe me,this is not the 1st time Prado was part of sealing a Gomez favorite in along the rail(evidently it won't be the last.)Garrett is a fantastic rider, but he does have a flaw.If you don't play him on the favorite,I don't think you'll ever have any trouble with this "stuck on the rail" problem. You can probably avoid it by avoiding him on inside chalk(inside 3 posts.)The guy seems to be riding very well until these inside chalk situations arise.A lot of it is that he is somewhat a victim of his own success.Jocks are looking to get him stuck, and especially if he is on the chalk(the other jocks know he hesitates, and they quickly know what to do.)
