Scav,
It was just a breeze.
I was going to post it but I'm guessing you remembered this thread.
She should be in soon.

Good luck in Vegas!

I don't want to be an ignorant Californian, but is 5f at 1:03 really all that much to get excited about? On the tracks here, if I see a .59 5f, then I get interested... what makes this horse so wonderful? I just don't get it.

Signed,
The Apparently Clueless Californian

The 'word' that was heard is what makes him interesting.....times can say anything

DerbyCat 07-03-2006 05:19 PM

Got it... I'm a little slow sometimes.

Thanks.

I think my riding buddy and I are going to be at Belmont this Saturday; I look forward to race 5!

pgardn 07-04-2006 10:27 PM

Of course everyone would like the inside scoop.
But I think DTS would even tell you to be careful.

Its always nice to know who the best horse in a race is.
It just does not necessarily translate into a win.
Ive seen the shock too many times.

Those maiden special weights and the workouts... Oh boy.

I dont think DTS called this a mortal lock like Cunningham did with his maiden. Even though he had the favorite as a mortal lock in his first runnning.

BTW. The little Japanese hot dog eating guy "Kobeashi", set a new record of 53 and 3/4 hot dogs. An American almost beat him with 52. Careful.

hockey2315 07-04-2006 11:22 PM

pgardn- i totally agree. . . racing's too unpredictable for anything to ever be a lock. . . but that horse today @ Belmont in the 4 horse race may have been the closest to a lock ever. . . he went off at like 1/5, got left at the gate, and still destroyed the other three horse. . .

hockey2315 07-04-2006 11:23 PM

since the morning line hasn't been made yet- any thoughts on what his odds will be?

15/1 unless the jockey is a jet engine.

Pat and other Posters,
You said it best Pat. Caution folks!
I have hopes for Toss the Feather because one of my partners works at Toga and rode her each morning. Before she shipped downstate, he told me that this one would be good.
At this point, look at who she's against and cap the race accordingly.
I hope you make some dollars on her. Be careful!!!!

Fortunately or not, I'm still at the point in my handicapping practice where I stick to small bets I can afford to lose. No worries for me on the 8th.

And I'm delighted that little guy won for what, the sixth time in a row? Hee hee. It's one of those crazy contests I have no interest in seeing live, but I enjoy seeing the footage highlights afterwards.

He will be lower then 15/1....Just having Jerkens as the trainer is enough to warrant a 10/1 ML and lower then that at post....

I looked at the race and he looks to be in tough...They are maidens, anything can happen, I will be playing him though, pick four, pick threes, win/place, exactas/tri

Good Luck. I have not looked at the race yet. Just got back from The MGM in Las Vegas, had a great time.

I am over at Ballys...It was the only place that would house 8 people at a time(parlor suite)....I have heard that their sportsbook is above average so will check it out until they piss me off then i will head over to the Bellagio

the Beds suck at MGM, I wanted to go to sleep off a 46 hour gambling session and I had springs basically popping up in my grill the whole time...drove me nuts..

Scavs you are completely mad. I liked Ballys sportsbook. I walked around and checked a number of them out. Its kinda tiered and ends up at the bottom with the tellers. You can watch the big screens, or have your own little TV and just switch around. I could get away from the smoke also. It was a little darker than the others and it made it a bit more comfortable. That is were I settled in my only trip after trying a number of others. Oh yes. They have nicely visible odds boards for just about everything running almost up to the ceiling. I liked that. Information central.
