Just goes to show, out of sight, out of mind. She was a brilliant girl on her day, huh?

Its been a super year for fillies and mares around the world - another one Miss Finand had a fantastic year down under, I just think Pride and Ouija were two very special girls..

Ill have to rank my top 10, but will wait til after Deep Impact runs on Christmas Eve.

alex was top class over 12.. wish she could have faced some tougher opposition though. she got beaten clearly by Mandesha (top class herself) over shorter.... we may have to do a top 10 filly mare list.. plenty of worthy girls..

Is that meant as a compliment?

Hooves,
Wanma know the sad part? If Dividend Yield was bred by a top sire out a blue hen mare, guys would be posting tonight that this "monster" finally has come around and will be a force to reckon with!!! Guranteed!

Balletto 12-17-2006 07:12 PM

I was just going to bring up Mandesha. Good filly.

I can't get a handle on her. Two of her competitors we saw here ran in the Turf Classic and got drowned by English Channel while finishing in a photo with Interpatation. Plus, while she didn't get a terrific trip, Satwa Queen hardly complimented her Prix De L'Opera in the BC.

I don't want to get too carried away making those comparisons but I think Mandesha may have earned a reputation that she doesn't deserve.

Balletto 12-17-2006 07:18 PM

Possibly... how come I think she was retired? Or am I confusing her with another euro filly?

She may well be. I think she was shipped to the Far East and then not entered when they didn't like how she was doing.

If she's owned by the Aga Khan, which I think she is, there's an excellent chance she was retired.

Owned and bred by his daughter, Princess Zahra.

brockguy 12-17-2006 07:25 PM

Mandesha's being trained with the Arc as her big goal next year..However, she could have quite a successful year snapping up alot of the filly mare G1s..

Balletto 12-17-2006 07:25 PM

I was just thinking "Zahra" might be a good name for a filly.
