"The Jeri Curl Throw Down"... Isn't that hosted by Don Cornelius?

The Denny's reference urges me to throw a vote in here for Steak n' Shakes..

GPK 11-30-2006 09:48 PM

its funny talking about food....someone posted on here not too long ago about those KFC food bowls...with fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn...

sh*t...that sounds like everything that was on my dinner plate 2-3 nights a week growing up.

Garbage Plates at any diner in the Rochester, NY. area. An eating
experience. A cooking masterpiece.

hoovesupsideyourhead 11-30-2006 10:26 PM

well somebody cant cook...thats a list...

If you guys are ever in Northern Florida near Madison, Florida, go to Food For Thought.

COWBOY BURGER! Enough said. 1lb of meat. They also have a cowgirl burger and a cowbaby burger which are obviously smaller, but just as tasty!

French Fries are yummy too!

That prompts a thread-start...

1.) Your Favorite Diner or Luncheonette (must have a counter)... (I'll even allow Midwestern Tea Rooms as choices..) and..

2.) Your Favorite Eats therein..

I'll start with three...

FAMOUS LUNCH, TROY, NY: Miniature hot dogs in the "New York System" tradition with a Michigan style sauce. Hysterical joint in downtrodden downtown Troy. Since 1932

SWAN'S OYSTER DEPOT, SAN FRANCISCO (Polk & California): Unbelievable crab louis, oysters, shrimp, etc.. at the long counter.

PONZIO'S, CHERRY HILL, NJ: Between the NJ Tpke and Philly.. About as quintessential as it gets for diner.. Hot Turkey Sandwich, Brown Gravy (NOT yellow, thanks..)

lol Steve ive been to the Oyster Depot, wasnt too crazy about the prices but hey its SF, I had the chowder and a couple of oysters

in any case my favorite diner food would be SF Joes special with crab

The Best food would have to be from a CLAIMJUMPER in SoCal....the works! A place that has a history is The Pantry in Los Angeles. 24 hrs a day servings..you have to go just to understand it...waiter I had worked there 45 yrs. The only counter service place for us rural folk was Bobs' Big Boy,lol!

Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House

Sunny Isles Beach, FL

Rare Roast Beef Sandwich.

packerbacker7964 12-01-2006 05:36 PM

Hot Springs Arkanasas Stubby's BBQ on Central Ave right by the Track.
I always get the Beef Combo. Baked Tator with beans on top. Good Ole Southern Iced Tea to wash'er down.

So many diners...tough to pick only one.
First thought went to the one on 9w just west of Catskill, NY. Buick dealer on the right, diner on the left. Best burger and fries...
Nah...
Go to the Neptune Diner on "southside", Oneonta, NY.
Most anything on their menu is pretty good.
The chicken is great. Burgers too. Pies...yum.
If you take your family to the Soccer Hall of Fame, it's nearby.
If you're headed to Cooperstown for the Baseball HOF, it's five minutes from 28 north. Well worth the short detour.

Without a doubt Clark's on Clark, Chicago, IL

And sadly enough, their Nachos are the best nachos I've ever had. Got them the first time, and never changed my mind since!

West of the Mississippi? Cup and Saucer, Portland, OR. Best eggs over easy and hash browns I've ever had!

I just assumed it was from the Oval Office since Dubya was getting the cold shoulder from al-Maliki. Thought for sure Dixie was 2nd in command
