The shuttle bus I rode after the BC at Arlington contained nothing but freezing and drunk people, and I never laughed so hard in my life.
It was the single bright spot to the worst Breeders Cup I ever attended in every way, shape, and form.
Imagine going from Saratoga to Chicago and coming home and being asked if you had any fun, and replying that the shuttle bus was a blast.
The next one they run at Arlington they run without me I can tell you.

I couldnt imagine talking about car racing for 22.5 hours with drunk cold people from Indy. Mention the word "horse" and they start talking Penske and Honda motors.

What happened?
A fortune just to get in the place.
Freezing cold.
Those who were stuck outside told me of standing water in the restrooms, cold food, and cold coffee.
Rained and they had to scrape the track to make it fast.
No DRF's whatsoever available for the next day's races, you couldn't even buy one walking out.

I have to confess to resenting all of these anti-Jersey sentiments. Monmouth is a great park, Hoboken is an absolutely fantastic town, and there are lots of really great parts of New Jersey.

I can't defend Trenton, Camden, Newark, or the Amboys though. Not at all.

It has it's redeeming qualities... or at least that's what they told us at the State University of New Jersey.

I actually like most of New Jersey, outside of Newark, Camden, Trenton, Elizabeth, and the Rahway/Amboys/Linden corridor.

Geez.....we drive up from Indy the wife got sick so we pulled off right outside of Gary, IN and got a hotel room. We watched the races and she got sick all night. The silver lining is that she got sick because she was pregnant. So I guess all in all it was a nice BC for me.

Traffic is an absolute nightmare on Haskell day, or any weekend during the meet for that matter since you get stuck in all the shore traffic. The crowds won't be flocking to the beaches in November obviously, so that should help to alleviate some of the problem. The lack of permanent seats will definitely be an issue. Despite the less than ideal setup, I will probably be there. I made the trip to Louisville this year so it seems silly if I don't make the short trip from Philly to a track I go to 5-10 times during its normal meet.

I also imagine there will be extra trains which will make it much easier.

I'll agree, I drove from Boston to Princeton for Thanksgiving, via 87/287 (or whatever kept me off the turnpike.) I went through some really lovely parts of NJ. I was surprised.

princeton is an absolute gorgeous school. i looked there but couldnt take being away from the so cal weather so i stayed and was a very small fish in a huge pond out here. cant say i drove through the state of NJ but what i saw in the surroundings of princeton was spectacular.

Yup, the whole city (town?) of Princeton is very nice. I drove past Gladstone too, the USET's got a great set up there, I had no idea there was so much nice NJ countryside.

Of course Princeton is nice. I was born there.
