Could be a very small field in the BC Classic? Maybe not. Even 2nd or 3rd probably more than a lot of Stakes. Haven't seen anything like that since Arrogate. Not sure what his best was. 120+ I'm sure.

What a stunning win. I was literally laughing with happy tears in my eyes.

Yet, I have to admire the cajones of Olympiad's trainer Bill Mott in this quote:

While I think Flightline is a win in the BC Classic...one never knows. ;)

He made a believer out of me, but I guess to put it in prospective somewhat, he didn't exactly do it like Arrogate did. Not sure what race it was when Arrogate had everyone oohhing and ahhing, but I think it might have been the Travers when he beat a pretty big field among them Gun Runner that was pretty impressive himself. At any rate, the BC Classic should be very interesting, if the competition doesn't get scared off, but likely that won't happen because of the big purse.

Glad that we got to play Del Mar and I know you were too. I have had a couple of opportunities to play at Del Mar because my wife's Dad and Stepmother lived in El Cajon, but I never did go. Regret that now and now that Covid has come along probably won't be going in the future as I have all the bad stuff that makes a person more likely to have a bad outcome, if they do get it; however, I take all the boosters they will give me so there's that.

Ah! When I lived in El Cajon I had the most wonderful palomino QH. The best memories with her!

While I understand your concerns about travelling, I would not hold back and just GO. And I have, around where I live now. I, too, have severe health issues which makes me more susceptible, I'm on the side that will not let it hold me back. Everyone must make the best and most acceptable decisions for themselves.

But man, I wish you could experience Del Mar. OMG the ocean, the track is beautiful. Not to mention the best Mexican food! There are so many wonderful places in San Diego to enjoy, it's amazing. I wish I could move back there but it's beyond impossible with the highest price of living and other Gov Newsome insanity . Lots of crime from across the border is a great concern as well. Fantastic place to visit, but can't believe living there is good anymore.
:(

Plen, been to San Diego twice on business and it is gorgeous but common folk like you and me can'r affor to live there, besides I owuld not ry if all of Cali just happened to disapper one day. My last business there in LA as an Architect was awful, conceited, clickish snob nosed "professionals" around every corner besides the wosre traffic in the USA for sure. The race was amazing and Del Mar (stopped there oce with Patty just to see the place) is fabulous in every way you said.

At some point, I may just say damn the torpedoes and go anyway. My wife and I traveled a bit for several years. Mostly to Chicago or New York or to the West Coast and a lot to Vegas and I have to say I miss that. I think I've only been on one trip to Vegas since she died almost exactly five years ago. It used to be that we traveled two or three times a year or more.
