This is a direct quote from the article link above...

Jones, who owned and raced Half Ours, a son of Unbridled's Song in partnership with Barry Schwartz, bought out his partner to take total control of the gray or roan 3-year-old colt. Half Ours will remain in training with Todd Pletcher.

Racing for Jones and Schwartz, Half Ours, who has two wins from two career starts, including a win in last year's Three Chimneys Juvenile Stakes, suffered a fracture in his right hind ankle which required pins to be inserted. Jones said the colt has begun working again.

thanks kiddo

Kev, I remember reading the same thing for some reason.

If I were a breeder interested in this colt, i'd follow the progeny of Yankee Gentleman very closely the next year. Similar types from the same family with Storm Cat upclose. Might be very telling...

He's not on the West Coast, he's been working out with TGM all of October, from what I understand.

GPK 11-08-2006 09:16 AM

here it is...but some of them look to be a bit old.

YOu are probably right...I just got that link from Scuds when I was asking about Proud Tower Too

Yes, Half Ours has been working. Worked 5f on the Belmont Training Track on Oct 30. 1:02.13 13/43

I have been impressed with the Medaglia D'Oro weanlings. Good looking and seem to have some brains in them also.;)

I don't know for sure but I would certainly assume that they will retire her. Most mares that are bought at this sale are usually bought as broodmare prospects and are usually retired.

Half Ours will remain in training.

I understand that these were .50 dollars but that seemed awfully high for a horse that was scratched lame this spring, is going to be 4 years old and has 2 starts. I understand that he is fast and talented but have we come to the point where horses stand stud because of what they might have accomplished instead of actual accomplishments?

He was one of my favorite horses of all time. I saw him up close several times through his career and he matured into one of the nicest bodied horses I have seen, he had a classy air about him and this horse was as honest as they get, Perfect Drift has a legion of fans for his supposed grittiness, well MDO could have told him a thing or two about heart, I am hoping he passes his excellent qualities on to his foals, would LOVE to see him succeed. I even have thought down the line I would love to have one of his offspring, like maybe offering a permanent pet status to a gelding in retirement, I would spoil it to death and brag on Daddy. :D

the significant thing to me about MDO besides all the things you mentioned is that his offspring should act on turf as well.
I always wanted to see MDO run in one of those Grade 1 turf races at Del Mar at 8 or 9f.
think he would have done very well, but obviously he had more money to make in the handicap division.
only time not to run top 2 was the KY Derby and Preakness if I remember correctly.
should make an excellent sire and its good that we will have some of the Sadlers Wells blood in this country.
