Just checked it. This is from Mike Smith according to the Santa Anita post race transcript: "I winded up cutting the corner going into the far turn, and that really helped a lot. Because once I switched over and dropped into the far turn, he really picked it up at that point, able to get him back outside." Pretty sure that was the winning move, which was the move I was referring in the original post. Not sure if I missed something in the interview. It seems that I did from your inference so I apologize. Please let me know if I did so I can make notes moving forward and handicap accordingly.

The intent of my previous post was to agree with your premise that it was a hall of fame ride that won the classic. I apologize if it came off as antagonistic. That was not the intent.

Arrogate is the total package. He has the most raw talent of any horse I've seen since Ghostzapper. Just an effortless mover who can do everything tactically.
