Upstart hasnt surpassed his figure (Funny Cide Stakes) as a two year old yet. He is sitting on a big performance. I can see him as the upset and his recent works look wickedly good. Tall task to beat AP but I say he can get it done.

Triple Crown winner, biggest race of the summer, and no way to watch it? Really.

Well, it's called the graveyard of favorites for a reason.

And that's how you run a horse race. Think you have the "better" horse then ride him as such and don't let the "champ" get it easy as per usual.

Class connections for the winner and runnerup.

i thought after the Haskell, and baffert saying the horse was a bit tired after shipping back, that they'd not run here. But zayat wanted to. I hope the horse comes back well from the effort today, they can let him catch a breath, and then train him up to the bcc. Then again, they might have got to the bottom of him. He's had a good campaign. Can't say they did anything wrong, you run a horse when he's doing well. But you also have to give him time when he shows the needs it. Here's hoping he makes keeneland, and one more run. |

I don't believe the connections had any pre-Travers discussions about the plans for a "what if we lose" scenario. They should, and probably will, let the disappointment and reality of this outcome settle and then decide on the options. |
Justin deleted that tweet, btw.
They aren't going out like that. |
