I dont care if its the going rate in the northeast. $20-40 for parking is bs and that money could be churned over inside the venue multiple times over with the customer being satisfied and the track getting there cut.

Here's a tip from a 20 year Haskell veteran. Take route 71 and park in either sections 83-84 or higher. You're close to the gate. It's sort of like Belmont Day. Paid the $30 made a quick left under the tree and went right out. It's worth the walk and you're right by the exit.

American Pharoah may face less than stellar field in Haskell

Unlikely but possible
What happens in an unlikely scenario where AP loses the Haskell? Do the fans rip the place down? It could happen. I was there when I believe it was the
Long Branch and the odds on favorite broke a rein going into the first turn. Horse and rider went right and out of the race. The fans went ballistic where the announcer had to explain what happen before a riot ensued.:zz: |

I still have Haskell win bet tickets on Spend A Buck in my scrapbook. He wasn't a mortal lock like AP, and Skip Trial was a heck of a horse, but still... it could happen.

the Haskell is joke, nothing more than a paid workout

I was there and if I remember correctly Spend a Buck went off at 1-20. It was the lowest I've ever seen in almost 60 years of going to the track. I think Skip Trial paid $74 to win.
That was horrible to get in and out of there. I think I got home at like midnight and spent like 5 hours on a 1 1/2 hour drive. We usually go to Monmouth on a Friday and I recommend it. You get to enjoy the track and it's not overly crowded. Pick a nice weather day and you'll really enjoy it. Nice place. Pharoah on Haskell Day, no thanks. |

Yeah, he may win for fun...but they still gotta run the race. |
I saw Big Brown race there and it was a wet day and it was a Saturday. that was doable. if the haskell was Saturday it would be much better for traffic.
This I'm not so sure. The only way is if it rains. That will keep some of the south to north Pkwy traffic slightly lighter on Sunday evening. considering... but I hate that ride home. Going to take minimum 3+hrs...with work Monday. and the parking is irrelevant. This is a possible one time only event to see a trip winner. so if you go....i salute you. |
