Great stuff Doug.

Really great work. I enjoy these type of articles focusing on the numbers.

Carolina Barbecue???

Steve - Will it makes its return in 2014? And will you be broadcasting live from the deck?

Steve answered this earlier in the Saratoga 2014 thread:

Understandable but regrettable.

Thanks.

For the folks from the area - any new restaurants/bars worth checking out this year?

The old 'Saratoga Dining' threads pointed to some nice spots over the years.

My regular boss is currently in the hospital after having surgery yesterday to correct a valve with his bladder.......Now currently calling for his laptop because "Its Toga Day!"

Saratoga Announcer Come September 1st

While we said our 24th and final "they're off at Saratoga!" chorus with Tom Durkin yesterday, it got me to thinking about the next voice of the NYRA. At first, I thought that Vic Stauffer was a more than able "lock" for the role year 'round followed by Larry Collmus for the Saratoga summer meetings as needed.

In thinking back over Tom Durkin's complete 43 year career, the light bulb went off with another name from the New York area - Sam McKee.

Durkin moved from the Meadowlands and it would seem that Sam McKee has both the respect and capability to be a multiple decades long voice for NYRA.

So, three names now in play in my mind : Stauffer, Collmus, and McKee - all with excellent credentials to hold the post.

It seems unlikely that NYRA would use a caller from California.

They have brought in Martin Panza and he has revolutionized the racing office. Perhaps the bias in this West Coast vs. East Coast thinking should go by the wayside.

Thanks.

Would've had the straight Superfecta if the Kimmel favorite (who was bet surprisingly hard) didn't finish 3rd.

Read that Samraat is injured and will miss Dandy and that Wicked Strong worked in blinkers and will have them on next out

On the announcer deal, why is everyone overlooking John Imbriale as successor ?

On the blogs- CRIST IS BAAAACK !:D Blogging Weds - Sunday @ DRF, was live to 3 in P6 and mighty cristy unfortunately struck out :(

Stauffer is a great steward and should not give it up.
Collmus just signed with CD,but do think he wanted NY, didn't know.
Mckee is a good race caller and he never came to mind for Tbreds, but think his heart is with the Sbreds.

Should be a very busy day as they have beefed up the card with 3 more stakes, Vanderbilt, Test and Delarose and lots of folks want to see
Palice Malice. Goto this link and look under Stakes nominations link
http://www.nyra.com/saratoga/horsemen/area/

This Saturdays card is a nice one too for Dandy .
