What evidence is there that illegal drugs are used more at NYRA tracks then any other racetrack or circuit?

You're right. A prestigious, reputable trainer with a few dozen quality horses and noteworthy owners . . . Who needs that?

helicopter11 04-02-2013 06:13 PM

So is this really Hollywood Parks last year?

You're missing his point, which is that Shirreffs doesn't run his horses much.

I'm sure NYRA is happy to have a very good trainer coming to town, especially a trainer with his reputation. But I also think they are hopeful that he runs some of the few dozen horses he has more than he normally does. Horses in stalls that don't run is one of racings biggest problems.

John Sherriffs is obviously a world class trainer and by all accounts a terrific man. I like watching horses race, what I like more is betting on races that have great horses in them. There are plenty of trainers equally as qualified as Sherriffs that simply run their stock with much greater frequency then he does.

If you told me Bob Baffert was coming with 50 I would be a lot more excited.

Should be a great Wood Memorial card that gets drawn today.

Still, I'll be more excited about it if we get one other dirt route carded.

Last year, you had an 11-race card with no other dirt route, and a 30+ MPH headwind down the backstretch to further distort an often fickle relationship between one-turn dirt races and two turn dirt races at AQU main.

The Wood Memorial where Congaree, in his stakes debut, smoked Monarchos and the top 3 all came back to run huge was another one where it was a tough race to gauge because it was the days only route.

The figures made with algorithms and no human judgement of any kind like Equibase and BRIS both had some weird stuff come back on Wood day last year.

Alpha raced in Mid-pack in the Wood, and he got a blistering 134 pace figure from Equibase like he was Caller One or something:

Any one single other race carded at 9fs on dirt, regardless the class, will be a great victory today, if that happens.

If not, hopefully the weather is par, or the race is brutally true to form.

My prayers have been answered ... the Gazelle will be run on the Wood Card this year.

Are you interested in discussion at all or do you just intend to hit and run with one liners?

At least three different people have attempted to question your comments and done so pretty directly and you have avoided replying to them except to continue making lame comments. What is the purpose of that?

Yeah because when I think of clean trainers, California is the first place I think of.

Yes, they are the same, but NY seems to have the biggest in the game.

Ya, there are good clean trainers at every track, but NY has the most juicers IMO.

heli, i thought of your question while reading my b'horse magazine last night. it seems that california and the horsemen are looking at fairplex to start adding dates, or maybe making changes at los alamitos. there was also mention of a stronach owned facility, but the name escapes me at the moment. there was a line in the article that said many horsemen think 2013 is hollywood parks last year.

Just an assumption based on the frequency she runs her horses, the amount of breakdowns her horses have, and vet scratches. She is very active claiming and getting horses to improve off claims.

I hope I am wrong about her and she is the exception but I would bet she does.

So for now, strike Rice and insert Jacobson and Engelhart.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

so that's enough to go on message boards and accuse her of being a juicer....

wow.

Sorry, I just believe 75% of trainers today are using illegal medications. The ones who get caught have the same pattern as she shows.

It's what I believe. I don't blame these trainers for doing what they do. This is no different than blaming MLB players from the 80's/90's of doing steroids. It's the industry's problem and fault.

Thanks for answering. As long as the track is not All weather like Hollywood, I am good.
