I'm sorry because it's one of the few places I know where liberals and conservatives regularly converse with each other. I really like reading everyone's thoughts, even when I disagree with them.

My absolute favorite poster there ever was Bababoyee (it's been so long I can't even remember how to spell his screen name) and he and I didn't agree on ANYTHING. There was a great thread he sparked off that veered into a discussion of the use of the word c*nt. Anyone else remember that one?

I logged in this morning and thought that the Mayan Apocalypse had taken out the political forum.

It's a shame - now there really isn't anywhere else to discuss current (non-horse related) events on the board. I wonder what percentage of posts were made there as opposed to the others?

If Riot ever does log back in, she'll be shocked (but she'll think she won every argument)

My favorite poster was Nascar who had the unique ability to galvanize the entire Forum against him. Righties and Lefties together as one.

He was great. One of my all-time favorite politics threads is when Nascar started posting and saying that it wasn't him posting but his wife who just stumbled across the computer and saw the thread....priceless.

My other favorite one was about the aspiring politician who admitted having sex with a watermelon and a donkey.

The politics room was pretty awful and I completely understand why Steve got rid of it....but there certainly were some entertaining moments on there.

Ohhhh.... Nascar... yeah. No one could get people hurling abuse like he could. And yet he kept coming back for more. He was the living embodiment of "Tubthumping."

Sh*t. Apologies for the earworm.

The joke is Cheatem, not Screwum, you dolt. Something tells me that if you were seriously injured by someone else's negligence that you would be the first person to run crying to a lawyer claiming that you were entitled to compensation well in excess of what the injury is worth.

That was not a joke dipschit but you are absolutely correct on the second part..Wtf not!...I negotiate direct, don't need no steenkin lawyer sticking his grubby hands in my pie...a family member was in a car accident bout 10 years ago, broken bones, metal replacement parts etc...awarded 250K..after docs and shysters he cleared 35 grand.:zz:

I have a question. What happens if someone brings up a political topic in the esoteric section? Will it be allowed? If not, what qualifies as a political discussion, aside from obvious political discussions? For example, when there is a shooting like the other day, even though a shooting isn't a political event, there could be policy implications, such as possible gun restrictions.

i look at it this way...

our host build a dedicated room for his friends to air out their political differences. it was a nice gesture and one that i think deserves gratitude for it's many years of availability.

but as much as i try to avoid reading too much into peoples motivations it's kind of hard to ignore a work crew showing up and bulldozing the part of your hosts home reserved for those discussions.

i've never met steve but i think he's expressed clearly enough that he's okay with sharp elbows and expects you to have a thick skin if you engage here. but maybe he didn't enjoy seeing a portion of his creation devolving into the old espn board.

and there's always the circus at p.a. which makes the politics room here look like the algonquin round table.

I find your family member's story impossible to believe. It simply does not work that way. But why should that stop you from maligning an entire profession without knowing all the facts.

I would love to see you try to handle an injury case on your own, I can guarantee you that you would get far less money than a lawyer could get you after the lawyer gets the fee.

True story..guy that caused the accident had million buck policy..In the accident a second young man suffered a head injury...He got 750 mil.
my cuz got 250...the accident was in the state of CA..after medical/hospital costs(huge) and lawyer fee he was left with the 35K..Turns out his lawyer is originally from Pgh and a Steeler/Pirate fan and i talked to him on the phone..nice guy...

Don't know, let's try..
