That was a rough start to the '94 handicap season. First, Gilded Time flamed out in the Malibu. Zignew won the San Fernando, then broke down in the Strub. Diazo broke down training for the Big Cap. The Wicked North was toast after the Hollywood Gold Cup. But hey, at least Kissin Kris and Stuka stuck around. |

I always liked Dramatic Gold.. Pretty good race of him battling it out with Formal Gold.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxMbwXAbMvs . |

He was highly touted early as a 3yo but was absolutely dusted (along with several others) by Holy Bull in the Florida Derby. That pretty much knocked him off the Derby trail, but he came back well enough to hold his own against his elders in some big races later that year. Not counting the Big Cap, which preceded a 6-month layoff, Dramatic Gold was the only horse to finish in front of BC Classic winner Alphabet Soup in '96. |
