The one and only time I have witnessed live Jai-alai was in 1982 in Bridgeport CT. That was enough for me

If there were no other entertainment (ie gambling) options, perhaps, but I must admit to have no understanding of how the game works from a gambling perspective.

Help me here. I may not be hip to all southern vernacular so please explain what the hell this means.

I figured there would be some people wouldn't get that. But you? You, my friend, are clearly not an Appalachian American.

No Jai Alai for me, thanks. I will be lucky to still have money left by the time everyone else gets in town.

Lol. Just give Mrs. Bigs all your money when you arrive and she can give a daily allowance.

As long as MaTH is around for pickings on the golf course, I will be in good shape.;)

If that's the case, then I'm really going to have to knock off a 7-11 before I get to Tampa...............

They need to be keeping their eyes on you, instead of you watching them.

I know that it will come as no shock, but I have spent many an hour in the Ocala Fronton. Alas, the Tampa Jai Alai Fronton is now a shiny Home Depot (closed in '94).

There is most certainly Jai Alai simulcasting from So. FL. if you get the urge Math.

WTF is the point of subjecting yourself to Jai Alai if you can't watch it live?
i'd rather hang out with gpk and buy scratch offs at the local 7-11 for 2 hours

You mean that's not the itinerary for Tuesday night?

Rudeboyelvis 02-01-2012 07:08 AM

They sell scratch offs at the simulcast - see, everybody wins :tro:;)

It is brutal on TV. You can't see the pelota.

It is for the true degenerates, so from the looks of some of gpk and herky's recent threads, I'm guessing they will dive right in.

Jai-Alai + bunch of degenerates = COMEDY GOLD!

Calzone Lord 02-01-2012 08:26 AM

Not really. It's a huge freaking court with about ten people spread out through it.

In the 90's when I spent my entire summer in Florida most years -- and my entire Christmas vacation from school there most years -- Miami had two Jai-Li frontons, three dog tracks, three thoroughbred tracks, and at least one harness track.

Now that HIA has made a comeback -- I guess you still have three horse tracks, plus Pompano is still an active harness track, not sure if Miami and Dania are still going and how the dog situation is with Hollywood, Flagler, and Biscayne.
