No decision yet on talent but one would assume that NBC would want to use their own voices for the races.

I'm guessing that's the case for a lot of other people too, because besides hockey what else does the channel have to offer? So if it was carried on ESPN, you might possibly gain some viewers who stumble across it as opposed to NBC Sports network. I know it's a real stretch, but I just feel like it has a better chance of picking up viewers (and being seen by advertisements) on ESPN, then on NBC sports.

Yea not really sure, I know on Cox its part of basic cable but I know on Dtv it used to be channel 605 which was with the TVG and those type channels you would get as part of the sports package.

I just think going from NBC to ESPN to Versus (now NBC Sports) is following a very unhealthy progression.

IMO, if anyone new deserves a shot at the national stage it should be John Dooley. He is very good at bringing excitement and accuracy to a racecall, and his descriptive style would be appealing.

just don't let bobby flay do it!

philcski 01-23-2012 04:13 PM

100% chance it'll be Larry Collmus. And I'm happy about that.

Getting racing developed on the NBCSports network is a good thing. Comcast bought 51% of the entire network fom GE and Comcast is looking to invest in the new face of the Sport Network it could be very good news for racing. Lets say they do well with this and then start to partner with NYRA for SPA andthe fall Championship stuff.

I like Trevor but agree.... I wouldn't have a problem with Dooley calling the races.

Well if NBCsports is Versus that makes me happy as that is basic programming on Dish Network.

I have Americas 120 Plus and I dont have it. How is that you get it with only basic programming?

It's not available with America's 120 Plus. The bottom level is America's Top 250.

I just hope that they promote it well on the big network. Maybe they can even put up a special crawl/box during the Notre Dame game, giving up to date odds, prices and most importantly minutes to post. At least people will have an idea that there is a special event going on and when they can tune in to see a race.

Would love to see Durkin get the job back, but it will most likely be Collmus.

Would Durkin want the job back? Didn't he give up some national opportunities due to the stress it was causing him?

If the schedule stays the same (i.e: races) I wonder how they are going to get 8 races Saturday in 4.5 hours unless they farm one or two out to the racing nets or move one to Friday.

Why not NBCsports channel(versus)?

Competent job on the Saratoga product, even from a Del Mar Fan's perspective.
