Not sure of the exact intricacies, but both moves shocked the $hit out of me. Something tells me that these guys aren't done wheelin n dealin!

I thought for sure Namndi wanted the NY press for his acting career.

I guess he just used them to drive the price up.

Idk bc if tht were the reason, he would've gotten a ton more per year. Early reports after the lockout lift had him getting 17-18 mil per yr. That is when i threw in the towel to those sweepstakes, knowing damn well Andy and Co. werent forking tht kind of loot over.

If i werent mistaken, Asante signed a 5 yr 57 mil deal. That was three years ago however. Shocked that Namndi took it, i guess i was the 25 mil gauranteed was the deal breaker perhaps.

Maybe he really DOES wanna play for a winner :D:eek:

Doesn't matter to me. He would've been a luxury signing and hopefully eventually Tannenbaum realized that and said "blow me". I'd much rather have Braylon and Cromartie back than Nnamdi. We had the top defense in the NFL with Lito f'ing Sheppard playing across from Revis. The defense will be OK. It's the offense that has to make strides.

I think trying that much up on two CB's is ridiculous. Not to mention that the defense was pretty damn good last year without him.
Joey my question is, did they lose Brad Smith because they were trying to sign Nnamdi and didn't have the space for both of them? I think he's a big loss for them.

I'm a realist- i know we havent won $hit yet, but im happy to pledge my undying allegiance to a team that is capable of going far every year. You should know this being a Jet fan.

Btw--made a surprise visit to the Knitting Factory a few mondays back. I'm thinking of taking my talents to Williamsburg lol (except for the flying cockroaches tht yall have up there, WTF)

I'll miss him running the wildcat to perfection but he's replaceable on ST. Bills gave him more than we ever would.

You should hit me up if you're doing Willy B. I can tell you in person what an overrated queen Nnamdi is.

How many more years are they going to s.hit the bed in the playoffs with arguably the best team?

Don't the Pats play a 3-4? I thought Haynesworth was a 4-3 guy who gets a bloody vag whenever asked to play a 3-4.

Reggie Bush to Miami? Your thoughts Cannon Shell?

At least kickoffs and punt returns will be more exciting till RB gets hurt

You put your order in for that Burress replica jersey yet, Joey?:D

Calzone Lord 07-31-2011 07:14 PM

I remember Burress making a nice catch over the middle his rookie year. He was untouched - instead of running - he hops up - spikes the ball - and the defense is waiting for the ball to come back down to secure a fumble recover while the dumbass is showboating.

No matter how stupid he may look for shooting himself in the foot with a loaded gun and going to jail for a couple years while nearing the end of his prime ... that play in Pittsburg was his peak showing of dumbfucl<ery for me.

It's in the water.

Calzone Lord 07-31-2011 10:53 PM

They're saying Moss to the Eagles if he "comes down on his asking price" - same thing they said with the Jets.

The Eagles were desperate to get him last time in free agency - and gave him a better offer than the Pats - if that doesn't work out ... he's probably going to get paid by someone like the Rams ('Sup Josh McDaniels reunion) or the Browns ('Sup 40 million under the cap and no WR's)

Sounds like he has a team he's not excited to play for on the hook for a price he wants - but he's still trying to get similar money from a contender.

golfer 08-01-2011 07:49 AM

Considering Nnamdi's statements about the Eagles being his top choice all along, it looks like the Jets got played by his agent, who coincidentally  also represents Cromartie. Use the Jets to drive up Nnamdi's price, then know they will come running back to Cromartie afterwards, driving up his price as well.

Burress for $3 million isn't a huge risk, hopefully he can still play a little.

As for letting Brad Smith go, the kick-off rule change, which got forgotten about due to the labor strife, makes that part of the game less important. While he is an excellent Wildcat QB, I think he proved over the last 3 years he is not a very good WR. Great guy who performed admirably in big spots, but unquestionably expendable.

slotdirt 08-01-2011 08:36 AM

I don't get how the Eagles are fitting all of this under the cap. They've signed seemingly 1/2 the actual high profile free agents this offseason. Between Nnamdi, Cullen Jenkins, and Jason Babin, they have like $100 million in salary tied up for the next five seasons. That has to have an impact sometime, right?

If Nnamdi's agent used the Jets as contract leverage and ONLY got him 60 over 5, then i'd be inclined to say he did a piss poor job. I was shocked to see he signed for 12 a year - when reports had him going for 17 at the least. I wonder if the Bucs ever had an offer on the table, bein tht they have serious wiggle room with spending this year.

Eagles went all-in this year, and picked up a 2nd and 5th rounder for nxt yr in the process. #birdgang
