Attaching photo of our boy cooling down after that nice work this morning. This was taken after his bath. My friend says he has video of the workout that he'll give to me when he gets home next week. I'll post if I can figure out how.

Woody Payne was in attendance for the work and said he loved the way he looked and moved really nicely. The Oklahoma is deep and slow, and Woody thought the time would come back a second slower than it did. The expectation is that Pal will turf sprint in whatever MSW he lands. Still hoping to get the start in before Labor Day.

There's a race on August 22. 5-1/2 f. open company. Maybe too early?

Too early -- he doesn't have his gate card yet and needs to be working half miles at the least -- and there is no reason to run 2yo NYB maidens in open company.

Got it.

Video

I have a nice video of Pal's work last week, including a couple of shots in the barn, but it's 47 megs so I can't post it here. Too large. If anyone would like to have it, post email here or send me an email: dirvin@mmsa.com.

Please make sure your server will allow an attachment of that size.

Or if anybody has a tech idea to allow me to post it here or some ftp site somewhere, I will.

Okay. Video is now on youtube. On the track look for Pal's blue nose roll and the exercise rider with the white flack vest.

PAL turned in a visually impressive half mile work Thursday in about :52 with a sustained gallop out all the way to the start of the backstretch. Gary asked Irad Ortiz to target :51-:52, so he couldn't have handled the colt better, and he never asked the City Zip colt for run at any time. Has a ways to go and needs to earn his gate card, but continues to do everything right on the way to his debut.

Pal's Half-sister is a winner today!!!

LOYAL SHADOW, a half-sister to My Pal of Pals (same dam in U R Theweakestlink), won the 5th race at Saratoga today!

Another common link to Pal: Loyal Shadow is trained by Gary Sciacca and was bred (and is owned) by Dr. Paul Giacopelli. Congrats to both Gary & Paul!!! :)

The winner was almost 15-1, paying $31.80 $13.20 $8.00. Hope you had him across the board, and in your multi's! (Steve tabbed him as the "Best Value"... and understatement, for sure!) :D

Chart can be found here: http://www.equibase.com/premium/eqbP...&RACE=A&BorP=B

According to Gary, "Pal" is scheduled to breeze tomorrow.

Storm Cadet 08-24-2011 08:00 PM

Got the tease on todays opening part of ATR of his breeze...did we ever hear if he got his gate card and what he worked in today?
