We are arguably the most diverse, tolerant country in the world and of course we have Westboro fools but overall we're doing just fine especially considering how young a country we are.

We need to stop self-analyzing in search of guilt and get back to work. We need a President who understands private business and citizens come ahead of government programs, who puts residents of Joplin MO ahead of Taliban leaders’ bribes, and who understands we are part of the people of the world, not their provider. And considering the money that has been plundered the last 2 1/2 years the last thing we need now is to raise the debt ceiling. Time to start answering those debt collectors' calls and get straight. We've done enough and should be loved not hated for it.

our money has been 'plundered' for far longer than the last 2 1/2 years, a fact you continue to ignore. of course, we can't do anything now about what's past, we can only use what we've learned to change now and in the future. the debt ceiling has to be raised now, but can certainly be lowered later. we can't afford to default on our current obligations. that would only cause more and bigger problems.
the fact that we are a progressive society is laudable, but we can certainly do better. we have done a lot, but we have not done enough.

I told you what to search on. Try Uganda, homosexuals, C Street.

Look. I know you don't read newspapers, or watch news shows. You read the occasion right wing blog that gives you your superficial worldview. But sometimes ya just gotta squeeze out some objective critical thinking, and do a little serious observation on your own.

Wow. You do not live in the United States that I live in.

Too bad for you, it's pretty nice here :)

i was going to ask the good lord to give some details of what he meant, but i figured it was pretty clear already...
cause goodness knows that if people get rights, it certainly affects other folks' lives in a bad way.

Michele Bachman"s comment was that if elected Prez she would try and pass a constitutional ammendment outlawing gay marriage. And this is an example of "less goverment"?

No that would be considered "bad government".

The radical right seems to have fallen in love with Constitutional amendments, first it was to outlaw abortions and now gay marriage...use to be a left wing idea. Michelle Bachman announced her run for the Republican nomination today and she seems to have some support. It will be interesting to see how she stands up to the scrutiny which all candidates are subjected to...I suspect she will make Sarah Palin seem like a Mensa member.

So far (this past weekends public appearances) Bachmann is sticking to her reputation and long history of "factually pants-on-fire" falsehoods as she throws around "facts and figures".

For example: this weekend she denied she made any income off the family farm - although all her tax forms for past years have her income from the farm listed. She was reminded of this, but still maintained she makes no income off the family farm (because the family farm gets alot of government farm subsidies)

She's a strange one. But hey, she's only in politics to do God's bidding, and was "called" (as Palin said she was)

She also screwed up at her Presidential announcement in Iowa today and said John Wayne lived in the town where she grew up. No, John Wayne lived 150 miles away. John Wayne Gacy lived in her town.

Bachmann s.hit to kids ratio is 8 to 1. A phenomenal accomplishment.

Bachmann will be more fun to watch than Palin.

FACT CHECK: Bachmann bomblets raising eyebrows

By BY CALVIN WOODWARD, Associated Press – 4 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michele Bachmann's claim that she has "never gotten a penny" from a family farm that's been subsidized by the government is at odds with her financial disclosure statements. They show tens of thousands in personal income from the operation.

And, on a less-substantive note, she flubbed her hometown history when declaring "John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa," and "that's the kind of spirit that I have, too," in running for president.

The actor was born nearly 150 miles away. It was the serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr. who lived, for a time, in Waterloo.

Those were among the latest examples of how the Minnesota congresswoman has become one to watch — for inaccuracies as well as rising support — in the Republican presidential race.

[snip]

Examining 24 of her statements, Politifact.com, the Pulitzer Prize-winning fact-checking service of the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times, found just one to be fully true and 17 to be false (seven of them "pants on fire" false). No other Republican candidate whose statements have been vigorously vetted matched that record of inaccuracy.

A look at some of her recent statements and how they compare with the facts:

"What an amazing imagination," marvels Arnold. "Her ideology is so powerful that she can construct a reality just on a moment's notice."

Serial liar, batshiat crazy. Republican Primaries 2012 wahoo! It'll be fun ;)

Coach Pants 06-27-2011 08:56 PM

I don't think it's fun. This country is doomed.

yeah, i saw that. won't happen. even if enough dummies voted for her, the amendment wouldn't happen either.

from what i read on slate, john wayne's folks were from waterloo..on the flub scale, not nearly as big as the paul revere mistake by palin. what made that one worse was sarahs insistence that she didn't get that wrong. here's hoping her jury duty lasts for a long time.
