You are correct there! The price of a barrel has climbed steeply recently but when one does the math, it still doesn't add up to $4.00+ a gal for gas. When the huge oil companies keep posting record quarterly profits, it's hard to take when it takes me $50.00 to fill my small tank!

We are in complete agreement then. What bothers me is the Government can regulate other items but not the price of gas. Someone is getting paid off by the big gas companies.

big difference between regulations and price controls.

BTW, while under the radar this past week, the Republicans just voted not to repeal price gifts and tax breaks for the oil industry in this country.

When looking at the price of gasoline compared to the price of oil, the majority of that is taxes, with state being a hefty percentage.

Obama, btw, just appointed an oil and gas task force to look for fraud and gouging in gasoline prices about 2-3 weeks ago.

He does! I liked him - I was wondering how the heck he wandered into a Republican debate but it's because he's quite the Libertarian ;) The audience was not thrilled - lots of audible gasps to what he said.

Exactly.
So....like I said....he might be the perfect candidate for that party.
