LOL. Yeah Winning the Stephen Foster, Whitney and Classic is the same as winning the Apple Blossom, Clement Hirsh and Lady's Secret. How can anyone possibly make this argument?

I am a huge Zenyatta fan. I think she's an amazing horse and I think she would have won the race yesterday with a better trip. Despite that, I don't think it's a close call for HOY. I think Blame is a "slam-dunk" for HOY.

You can't compare Zenyatta's graded wins this year to Blame's graded wins. His wins were much more impressive. He was running against much better horses.

If Zenyatta would have run in one of the big races against the boys back east in the summer and would have won, then I think you could make a case for her despite the head defeat yesterday. But that didn't happen.

The Mosses took a gamble by staying out west all year and running against the girls every time. By choosing this course, they were going to have to win the BC Classic to win HOY. They put all their eggs in one basket (the BC Classic). They took the gamble and it almost worked but she came up a head short.

Um yes it can, the numbers dont lie. If Blame had won the Woodward, actually even ran in it, and performed better in the JCGC it would be lock city, he did not, so he is not lock city.

You are stupid.

I have been keeping anything pointless to a minimum. I would be fine with Z winning HOY, no injustice would be done.

You are stupid

You are stupid. She did not win the Personal Ensign therefore does not credit because she might have.

Cannon, What did you think of Zenyatta's race yesterday? Were you impressed? Did you think she would have won if she didn't have to tap on the brakes turning for home?

I thought she ran great. I didn't see anything wrong with her trip especially after watching the over head view. If I was going to criticize the rider for anything it would be for not warming her up more before the race. After standing around digging holes instead of warming up it isnt really surprising that she was slow into stride.

blame didn't avoid anyone in the woodward. he'd already defeated the horse everyone thought was the top 'capper this year.

as for zenyatta, i can't blame her trainer for his opinion. however, her owners cost her a shot at the award with their cowardly campaign. any other horse running her season this year would get laughed at if they dared suggest it was hoy worthy. but it's zenyatta, so people get all freaking emotional instead of using the logic they'd apply to any other horse.

the award isn't for most photogenic, or best quirky habits. it's for HOY, and blame is the one who took on top horses much of the year, unlike the mare who didn't face a gr 1 winner all year until yesterday.

Dig this

She never warms up conventionally before a race.

Whatever your opinion of this is, it is standard procedure for them to not have a gallop to the post like most.

She never has done differently..

I'm excited that I was discussing Zenyatta losing the Classic when I made my 1,000th post.

It comes as no great surprise that her connections still think she is HOY. Less defensible are the racing journalists who said she was HOY regardless of what happened on Saturday.

Who said that? I'll be honest, If she beats Blame by a head, I don't think she would of gotten the vote. I think she needed to dominate Blame. If people think this close defeat cost her the HOY, I think they're mistaken. It would of been close, but I think Blame still would of gotten HOY.
