I know the taxes on my health insurance is going to be between $4 to 5k more when they allow the Bush tax cuts to expire.

my accusation of fraud is based on the people ACORN registered and there are other examples but we only report voter fraud if a republican wins.

as far as my take on what happened in 2000, I assume you mean the Florida thing. Despite an attempt to stuff the ballot box they fouled it up completely and still lost. Voting machines are designed for 1 ballot at a time. you get dimpled and hanging chads when you try to run more than 1 through the machine or whatever they used. and when that failed they tried to change the rules then accused the court of selecting Bush when all they did was refuse a rule change.

But i didn't vote for Bush - he was too liberal

The people get to vote every year. I want the dems to lose the majority.

100% of the people I work with are against reform and 75% are against it nation wide. You think it is expensive now - wait until it is free.
are all those people that didn't choose to buy health insurance going to like paying for it instead of driving a new car or going on trips every vacation?

yeah there are all kinds of reasons but I don't feel like addressing portability etc

I don't see how they can get this reform past the supreme court <-- btw this is all FDR's fault. If he didn't tax the crap out of people companies wouldn't have to offer health insurance as an incentive to work for them and prices would have been controlled through the free market

No way. The Kool Aid drinkers on the left need to wise up. You guys are so in love with the idea of governmental control of every aspect of our lives that you are dismissing the real impact of your ill-conceived policies.

Well hell yes, I want that. Canada and the UK are not half as crappy as a US system where we have millions and millions uninsured or not able to get health care, where healthcare prices are skyrocketing out of control in an industry that is 1/6 of our national economy and healthcare is dictated by private companies who are financially disincentivized from providing their services to sick people, and we stand 39th in the world in quality of care.

No way. You Kool Aid drinkers on the right need to wise up. You guys are so in love with the idea of zero government influence on everything that you are dismissing the real impact of your ill-conceived policies. :)

Well, except the overwhelming majority of what is being discussed not in either the House or Senate Health care reform bills.

Sorry, Riley :(

Seriously - please, read what is actually IN these bills. It's clear alot of the fear-mongers haven't.

SCUDSBROTHER 03-05-2010 02:36 AM

Riot, for this to work, they're gunna have to pass something to punish people that hire illegal immigrants etc. We've put up with that crap for a long time. We can't afford them anymore. I know they say Illegals aren't covered in the bill, but their gunna drop kids here (instant citizenship.) Cali is getting killed by it. We aren't better off with them.

The costs of illegal immigrants and their kids are a piss in the vast ocean of healthcare in this country.

And yes - people born here are called "American Citizens". Just like you.

I agree Cali is a mess. Disaster. I've had friends run from it in the past 15 years.

Illegals are a part of it, certainly (schools, everything) but illegal immigrants are far from the main reason. One can't behave as fiscally irresponsibly as Bush-era Republicans, just saying spend, spend, spend on the charge card, with zero planning on somehow getting the income to eventually pay it off.

But that has been the California voter. They voted in expensive program after expensive program, with zero way to pay for it.

Anyone who doesn't think we need healthcare reform laws needs to read this. Its gonna get really ugly in the next few years with health care costs:

The government already well-protects your consumer interests regarding your telephone, energy, and groceries.

Of course, in the currently popular small movement to get rid of the government, that can go away. I'd say you'd miss it.

Edit: you know, one poster here mentioned he pays $269 a month for health insurance. Hope it's still affordable this summer at $300 a month, or even $330.

well protects? my interests? i doubt it. pols protect themselves.

as for the insurance, i'll trade that poster. mine is higher already than the highest you just posted. but you know what, i don't even think about it. everyone hates their insurance(auto, home, life, disability, etc) and how much it costs...til they need it.

Do you think that "deregulation" means there is no federal government involvement in consumer protections regarding telephone service?

You can doubt it, yet the reality is you benefit from it every day.

Yeah, they especially hate it when it gets so high, they literally cannot afford it any more.

But this is America - our motto seems to be, "I got mine. So who cares. You're on your own".
