The Special Olympics should have a restricted 100 meter dash for gingers.

Right now someone at the Breeder's Cup is wondering why they haven't thought of this race yet.

The handle would have been higher if it had also been restricted to albino jockeys.

I'm pretty sure Arromanches never won a single race in his life beyond 7 furlongs. I doubt he ever even attempted one. Arthur Wendell did his win streak in.

Everyone is knocking Unbridled Song offspring for their lack of soundness ... well, his son Unbridled Danger is nothing if not sound. This trainer has managed to get him to start 51 times since Nov 28th 2007.

That's 51 starts in about 26 months.

I have a program from May 19th, 1956. Ascot Park, between Akron and Cleveland, closed in 1966 when purchased by Eddie DeBartolo.

May 19th was the running of the "Ascot Gold Cup Handicap" at two miles.

The program has an ad for:

NEXT SATURDAY

Final Day of the 1956 Meeting

Gray Ghost Handicap

$3,000.....SIX and 1/2 FURLONGS

For Gray and Roan Horses

An aside,

James Clemens, Norman Hart and Gail Parker were neck and neck for the meet riding title on that day.

P. Maxwell was by far the leading trainer, with H. Jolley a distant 3rd.

And a further aside, the guy who had this program had 3 tickets on the daily double at $63.20 for a nice $189.60 1956 dollar score. I bought the program on eBay.

Thanks for posting. Now it would be harder to find the 2 mile race over the gray and roan race.

The last time he won - he pulled off an 18/1 upset on the lead every step.

Great to see the iron son of Unbridled's Song finally win for the small-fry trainer.
