I agree. He hung a bit against Rachel, but chasing down Quality Road and rachel Alexandra are 2 very different things. Dry Martini will also be coming late and loves Belmont.

Cant wait to see how this race shakes out betting wise.

Cash Flow is a bit tight right now, but PM me for any sort of 3yr old vs older horse action, in this spot..... Im down for whatever you want to do.

A nice horse? Sure. But hardly the kind you should be afraid to bet against.

Whats so wrong with Dry Martini?

Besides everything? When you can look at a race and feel like Dry Martini has an actual shot, that tells you how weak the race is. This reminds me of all the people actually trying to make a case for Past the Point last time he ran.

Question. If Summer Bird or Quality Road wins this race or better yet, if they run 1-2 (either order), would that take some of the luster off of Rachel's win in the Woodward? So much was made of her beating older but if other 3yos can also beat older, I'd have to think that would take a little bit of the shine off her win. Not a lot but some.

She beat both the 3 year olds and older so....whichever group is better doesn't matter.

Well said.

And to your point King, Rachel's win in the Woodward was great not because she defeated Macho Again by a nose, but because of the way the race was run. It was pretty obvious their was some race riding from the other jockeys going on in the beginning of that race not to try and win the race but to make sure Rachel was fried and lost. The Woodward didnt appear to have a lot of speed types but it unfolded that way, much to the disadvantage of Rachel.

The Jockey Club looks like its shaping up to favor Quality Road's running style, that is if he can revert back to front running tactics. We'll see if the other jockeys want Quality Road to lose as much as they did rachel in the Woodward.

Horrendous calendar placement... talk about a race lost in the shuffle.

I think its more of a case of horrendous purse distribution. This race has always been used as a nice "easy" race for some big time filly (eg Sachauista, Jostle, Ashado, etc) on its way to the BC, but in the last couple of years they amped the purse up to ridiculous proportions I assume to make it a significant race on its own.

Not sure its working.

It's always interesting to see how a horse runs after a big effort, if there was a question is she for real after The Alabama, there definitely shouldn't be one after yesterday. Pretty convincing win.
