Where did I throw around the words morons or idiots?
The healthcare thing is a debacle. There really wasnt a plan and it was being rushed through on a political miscalculation by Obama and company. This is perhaps the biggest piece of legislature than will ever be passed since it not only consumes so much of the economy but because it will tangibly touch every person in the country. Healthcare reform is NOT a bad thing. Doing it the Obama/Pelosi way is. If ever there was a bill that needed give and take it is this one. But the issues are always clouded by the special interests and this one has its fingerprints all over it. Tort reform is badly needed but to do that Obama has to step on one of his strongest supporters, so it wont happen. That starts the dirty cycle since every other player suddenly needs to be bought off (AMA, AARP, Hospital org, unions, etc) and the water is muddied again. All of a sudden you are where we are now. The GOP doesnt want to let this through but if Obama had reached accross and stepped on someones toes and called the GOP bluff, health care would have a chance. But the compromise that leads to a huge govt program simply wont get done in this environment. Govt agencies are a mess in general. Red tape, paperwork, political appointees, internal controls, unions, etc. make people like me who have dealt with ridiclously inefficient govt agencies real nervous. The out of control spending, the lame funding plans, the rush to get done, the political crap from Pelosi, these are not ideas that appeal to people in the middle.
