I don't understand why the media types don't even mention why various races have certain names in their reports. They could impart a lot of the rich history of the sport that way. Let's face it - a number of our big races have names that sound bizarre to the general public. The Go for Wand S, for example. If the writer or broadcaster explained that the race was named for a champion filly who died on the track and that it was previously named for Maskette, a champion of 100 years ago, it would become understandable and make part of the sport less opaque to those on the fringes.

I don't think stake names are going to make/break horse racing.

If the ground is on the quick side, you'd have to rule Quijano out and side with Chinchon. He might be a bit of a dog but his run in HK is top notch. Distance looks absolutely ideal too.

Sadly isnt only about the BC and Triple Crown races.. Sadly since the advent of the Breeders Cup the classic stakes have been religated to preps

I can't believe Durkin called that "a star studded field" ... that field was loaded with bums.

Not sure if it was star-studed but certainly wasnt a bunch of bums either. The entire field combined to win 7 G1s in thier past

Someone has to win those Grade 1's. That was one of the worst Man O' War fields ever.
