Other than Sea The Stars, tough call who will run big if the big favorite doesn't deliver. Just look at that field, some real nice horses in the world's deepest turf race.

Rooting for anyone (else), CSC?

Oh yeah, and The Bogberry 4th (no, really... even though he's been 5th in his last 3 starts).

Again, rooting interest only. :)

If Sea The Stars fails, I do like Cavalryman & Vision DEtat at their odds. Not sure what to make of Fame And Glory who has been beaten by Sea The Stars and it looks like he will be the second choice.

Awfully nice horse (5 wins, 2 2nds from 7). If I had my head screwed on straight he'd be my 3rd choice (but hey... I've been a Youmzain fan forever and he never wins the big races but he usually hits the board and runs his heart out. Nothing to do with Fallon up although that helps!).

Come home safe, everyone.

Can't wait!

edit - Okay well since I love this horse, since it's his 3rd Arc and since we all kinda know he probably won't ummm win (and since this might be his last season) I love this and just wanted to post it in incase anyone else wants to read about him or watch his workouts).

A frustrating horse indeed!

Yes! Youmzain, Dar Re Mi, Conduit, Getaway, Stacelita...when do you get odds like this on these quality horses? Tough race, I'm going to be interested in seeing if Frankie can work out a trip for Cavalryman with his draw, he looks like he has a nice kick down the lane.

Tough race to make money esp if you think Sea The Stars rolls. perfectly drawn, perfect ground, he'll have a fast pace and I think he'll beat Fame and Glory by even more than he beat him at Epsom and Leopardstown. Getaway for me to run down fast and late to grab 2nd with Conduit 3rd..

I have the same feeling regarding F&G, he's a very nice horse that I see doing very well at in the BC turf but not here, I think Vision D'etat may be forgotten off of his second place prep and for me at 12-1 or better really peaks my interest.

I think Vision may be better over 10 rather than 12f but he had a lovely prep behind the eternally underrated Spanish Moon (who i think will be a major player in the BC Turf!)

Damnit!

Injured Lemaire to miss Arc weekend rides By Desmond Stoneham7.30PM 2 OCT 2009 Racing Post
CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE will miss his rides at Longchamp this weekend, including the ride on Stacelita in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, after suffering a hairline fracture of the collarbone when he fell in an Arab race at Saint-Cloud on Friday.

According to his agent, Helen Barbe, he has fractured his left collarbone and will be out of action for about three weeks.

Rumours in France suggest top provincial rider Franck Blondel could now be in line for the ride on Stacelita.

Lemaire's big-race rides on Saturday included Oiseau De Feu in the Group 1 Total Prix de la Foret and the John Gosden-trained Pipedreamer in the Qatar Prix Dollar.

Friday's news means both of France's top jockeys - Lemaire and Christophe Soumillon - will be absent for Arc weekend, after Soumillon fractured his elbow in a fall at Nancy last month.

That is tough news for them. How come no one else likes Dar Re Mi under STS? Do you like her better now MMSC? I'll be playing her and F&G with him.

brockguy 10-03-2009 08:02 AM

Things just get interesting. Soumi back to action and on board Stacelita:eek:

Whew! A dramatic turn of events... now she can be 2nd again!

* * *

Chuckles... Nah I just never saw her doing this. If she hits the board congrats to Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber but even after her last run? I don't think so and especially not with the news today... my girl needed a really good jockey and now, well... :)

CSC 10-03-2009 11:34 AM

Christophe is one of only a handful of jockies in the world that can make a difference that I would even consider, I'm guessing his injuried elbow won't hamper him too much.

Ditto.

A couple of random things...

The Prix Du Cadran is the swansong for Yeats... correct (Brock)?

Anyone have a pick for the Prix de L'Abbaye? I'm going to stick with sentiment here... Benbaun. Maybe he'll think he's at the Curragh and win. :tro:

At big odds.

Yeah i think it is for Yeats. There were rumours he would go for the marathon but I think Septimus will instead..

I like War Artist a lot in the Abbaye and Nigh Magic is my bet of the day other than the Arc.. She is fantastic.

I'm stuck between Eclair de Lune and Alpine Rose.

Is there a reason Crystal Capella has only raced once this year? Just wondering.

Good luck!
