It's a sad state of affairs in California when Joel Rosario is a top 3 jock. I mean...he's bad but my god 4-10 are horrendous.

He might be top three in the standings but when it comes to the big races he is not the the number three person called, in fact I bet he is not in the top 5.

I think he is decent enough, riders are woefully overrated.

And I bet he makes more money than Pants and fatman combined!!!

He leads the meet with 7 stakes win. Perhaps the other guys lines were busy when they got called before us.

I always enjoy it when people know what I was thinking during a call.

Yea, none of the top guys were out of town at all when many stake races are being run during May and June.

What top guys? You make it sound like it's a deep colony. There was Bejerano and then the rest of the field.

The kid is good, did he get to ride the derby, the Preakness, the Belmont, the breeders cup last year...........who the F cares about 10k claimers, my point was he is cleaning up in a meet he should clean up, the main stake riders where trying to win bigger fish this meet. So yea, he is in high demand for the everyday races but he is about 5-6th call for the big events out there.

That's their problem.

And it's your extensive experience as an agent and horsemen that brings you to this conclusion?

Hopefully someday Joel will be able to crack the ranks of "main stakes riders" Until then we'll just stay here. Continue to work hard and try to win races.

Let me jump in here for a second and put this **** back in perspective.

Rosario is a FINE young jock. If he's the 3rd best rider out in CALI right now it's because Gomez and Bejarano are excellent.

And Vic, from listening to his calls, has about as good a grasp of setups as anyone not watching replays 10 hours a day for 20 years (I exaggerate as to the latter, but not by much:rolleyes:).

Rosario has a better chance of getting really good under Vic than just about anyone else out there. The kid blows some but he's getting better.

My beef about the ride in question goes beyond the trivial. As the comments indicate, most wouldn't take issue with the ride.

I also find it enjoyable when people on message boards think they can train racehorses !! :D

thats all you can do, I cant tell if you are disagreeing with my point right now that he is not at the very top of the "money" riders out there.. Its not really a negative comment, its just where he is at.

Besides Gomez who just defected back out there and Bejerano who else do you consider to be Money Riders out there? That's my point. You had 2 jocks from that circuit ride in the derby (Bejerano and Smith). So I guess the flock of all the other money riders out there couldn't get rides in the derby  . Face it man it's not NY, the colony is just not deep. So who else is there that you think is better than him? (For the record I would take him over Mike Smith)

it really is not about ability and who would rank as a better rider, a money rider is someone who seems to excel when the pressure is the best and because of that when a new horse ships in or they want to make a change there are a few names out west that come up..Rosario is not there yet, even a guy like Flores is probably ahead of him.
