Borel was dehydrated after riding the first 8. He took off the two mounts, got an IV and was feeling better this morning. Worked three horses including Mine That Bird, left for the airport and just landed in New York an hour ago...

Someone at the beginning of the post referenced Fernando Jara......When he won the Belmont on Jazil he was being hailed as one of the next big time jockeys. What happened to him? Where is he riding?

whats the reason that someone like him who was very young and had some success has decided to ride outside the US? Or is it not by choice?

blackthroatedwind 06-01-2009 04:26 PM

Fernando Jara.....the Raymondo Fuentes of his time.

don't know what the temperature was there yesterday but it must have turned pretty humid - was listening to the track feed and heard them mention Holiday Tap, the winner of the 5th a maiden turf route, got overheated and almost collapsed before getting hosed down - apparently she was going to be fine, but couldn't make it to the winner's circle....

I thought I heard Jara was headed to Arlington?

Many Others 06-01-2009 05:34 PM

LOL wonder if he has to pay a nickel or they let him ride for free??

no, seriously-the last i saw about jara was that he was riding the 08-09 season in dubai. who knows now? maybe he's grown more and can't ride-it's happened to jocks before, it'll happen again.

He rode the season last year in Dubai. He was asked by the Sheik to come and ride. He was going to be the contract rider so to speak for Doug Watson.

Latest word was that he was going to go to Arlington. Dennis Cooper was going to handle his book but Jara was delayed in Panama due to the birth of his child. He was originally supposed to arrive for the opening of the meet, but he stayed in Panama for the delivery. Cooper had said he spoke with Jara after the meet began and Jara said he was still coming. I don't think he's arrived yet.
