Riskaverse?

You have to be kidding. Granted, obviously you bet her at 10:1 ( as did I ), but she had a perfect trip up the fence.

She isn't a big named horse by any means but Donnaguska's at Hawthorne was pretty sweet.

Quote:

Donnaguska, a first time starter owned by Billy Hays and trained by Joe Woodard, makes a remarkable stretch run to win her debut by two and a quarter lengths at Hawthorne Race Course on October 23, 2008. As track announcer Peter Galassi noted, Donnaguska was "far, far, far, far back" early under jockey Israel Ocampo. The three-year-old daughter of Yonaguska was sent off at 17-1, the second longest shot in the field of nine. She is number three, but for most of the video that doesn't matter because you won't see her. According to the official chart she was about 23 1/2 lengths behind at the top of the stretch, meaning she ran her final quarter-mile in roughly :21 1/5.

I thought her turn of foot was pretty explosive ... turf sprint debut wins are hard to gauge.

I don't know how this conversation didn't end when Formal Gold was first mentioned.

Give me a better performance by a filly in a 2yo turf sprint that time of year?

Aquired Cat?

Cure The Blues and Private Terms are the two I remember as the most impressive.
Jameela won her maiden race by a neck over another firster named Alto Pride in a stretch duel that would be memorable in any graded stakes race.It was 9 lengths back to the third horse Dress Ship,a Buddy Delp trained niece of Ruffian who was odds on.
What made that race most memorable for me is that I learned how to box exactas after that race.I held a $2 Alto Pride/Jameela exacta worth nothing. It paid close to $600 the way it came.

Ah, debut races witnessed in person? I can't say I've seen anything memorable, like, ever.

Another big Sciacca performance in the 1st... Shouldn't they let his stock get a running start about a pole ahead of the others?

Ever seen or seen live there is no doubt in my mind it was Zippy Chippy in August 2001 at Frontier Field in Rochester. A brilliant performance.
