It is EXTREMLY IMPORTANT for Jerry to find something TO REPLACE GAMBLING WITH. Otherwise, he will fall back.

When you give something up, you leave a hole that needs to be filled.

Rehab 101. 6 months outpatient and that gets drilled into your head daily. 12 step programs don't stress that like that.

We are talking easily amused here.That is special for a day and a half,but somehow they can stay there for 2 months doing God knows what (to stay sane.)How much reading can you do?

Scuds, I can't think of anything I'd rather do. Take my bike and borrow a kayak, go out to some empty Northwest coast and spend the summer in a cabin doing nothing but reading, writing, hiking...(sigh)...I love the city, but part of me belongs to empty places, too.

Son, when it comes to gambling there are two catigories. Now pay attention to this because this is important that you understand the two. There is the GAMBLER and there is the FOOL. Gambler and Fool. The Gambler takes calculated risks to improve his bankroll. The Fool is ,,,, well they are so unsure of what they want that they buy Cracker jacks when they were going for popcorn. Gambler or Fool, the choice is truly up to you and that is one of the things that makes America a wonderful place. The right to be stupid. Good luck son.

like it or not, it is, a part of the sport
an excellent book to read is "Horseplayers" by Ted McClelland
this isn't a book glorifying the sport in any sense like 99% do
here's a fact for you, 16 Billion is bet every year on T'breds alone
only between 2% to 5% of players actually show a profit from "playing"
for someone to get addicted to it, and lose tons of money is very easy
one of the reasons why is they are always racing, 365
if you blow east coast, there's always west coast to try to break even
there are many "Jerrys" out there, this is no isolated incident
that's great if you can wager responsibly, but don't look down upon those
who can't, it's the same as any other addiction
