Case closed? First of all, I did not attack the poster, I asked a simple question because I could not recall JV riding a sure winner in the Derby out of a win, but never suggested that the poster was incorrecdt. I have never stated that I know everything about this game and in fact have stated many times I am just learning at this game. I cannot say that I have been following the game long enough to recall that particular ride and that is for others with more expertise to evaluate.

However, are you really suggesting that JV is not worthy of riding a top contender? Are you suggesting that you shouldn't bet a horse that you believe can win the Derby solely because JV is named to ride?

Even if he has blown a ride in the Derby, he is still one of the more capable riders out there and I know if I owned a contender I would be very happy to have JV ride my horse.

Please enlighten me as to why JV reduces any horses chances of winning a Kentucky Derby.

i think if Pat Day hadn't won on Lil E Tee he would have gone done as the biggest disappointment in derby history as a jock

LOL, Sorry! It was beyond my experience and right over my head, as I said I did not see the race and couldn't evaluate it either way. Even though I am no expert, I just cannot agree that JV reduces a horses chances of winning a Derby.

We are in agreement. See post #17 in this thread a couple before yours on page 1.

I was thinking that a bad start like he had in the Wood in a 20 horse race prior to the Cavalry charge could do him in. The recovery and finish was great, but the degree of difficulty will be raised next month. Most likely he won't start that way again. I'm just not as confident.
