Ramon can't ride a lick on the turf either. ;)

Do you understand that that's exactly what one would expect? If you are the one on the "best horse" every race, you are going to be the ONLY one who loses with the best horse. Likewise, if you are on the best horse "almost every race every day", then you will lose more times with the best horse than any other jockey in NY.

explain the ride to me yesterday race 6 , how could he let that horse go 1:17 and chage , i'm mean come on uske , studart etc all would have had a better in that race , that was plain awful

win-win , winning, winnable , win willy

Of course it is a "dramatic" switch, and it conjures up memories of Hard Spun's musical jockeys, but both parties win here.

Dominguez gets off a horse that probably no longer has a shot at winning the Kentucky Derby, and Jones gets to try to improve his talented colt with the jockey that will also be working the horse in the mornings leading up to the Arkansas Derby.

The Arkansas Derby is a nice purse and very winnable depending on who ships in. They shouldn't be worried about anyone from the Rebel (win willy).

Jockey stuff gets way overrated - but I think Jones made a pretty silly decision.

Dominguez hasn't won a triple crown race - but getting a 2nd in the Preakness out of the absurd Scrappy T with a total dream trip prior to what happend near the far turn ... and getting Bluegrass Cat to run 2nd at a gigantic price in the Derby with a good trip ... his record's ok considering what he's been on.

If I had to rate one jockey in the country the best route rider - if I have a speed router I want Vic Espinoza and if I have an off the pace router I want Dominguez.

Knock Vic Espinoza all you want - but he's ridden in 5,263 route races since the start of 1998 - and he's shown a flat bet profit on the betting dollar. It's way tougher to do than it sounds.

He's the strongest jockey I've ever seen - more so than Gomez. The difference is Gomez is patient and saves ground .. while Espinoza loves going wide and often makes wildly premature and ill-timed moves... but bails himself out with sheer strength.

Dominguez looks goofy on a horse - and is often obsessed with saving ground at all costs. I don't know if it's the way he leans or what he does with the reigns or whatever. It's not pretty ... but I've seen far too much of him for far too long - and he's better than anyone with mid-pack and closing routers.

Those are the only two jock moves that would lead me to slightly upgrade the chances of a horse in this race from a betting value standpoint. Those two guys will probably end up riding hopeless bums if they're in the race at all ... so probably moot point.

Who do you think Ramon gets now?? I think he'll get a mount.
For some reason i'm thinking of Bittel Road , but he might not even go.

I'll take a Jockey that saves ground anyday compared to a Jockey that doesn't have the inclination to do so, there are times he looks bad with staying along the rail too long, but as a bettor I know full well going in what I'm going to get with a Dominguez ride, I will not fault him for trying to get an edge, the positives outweigh the negatives in my mind. I really think there is no other rider out there that could have squeezed more out of Better Talk Now if you look at all the wins the horse has accomplished in his career. Alot of those wins were very small margins and had to be timed perfectly, something this Jock does extremely well.

I think it was a good decision from trainer L J. Ramon, in my opinion, is not a good front runner style horse ryder.

thats funny, he wins 2 to 3 a day in ny. went west 2 weeks ago and won 2 at SA, including the frank kilroe mile (grass,gr. 1) and burned gomez on the chalk. yeah, he just sucks. old fashioned will run faster with another jockey and he won't get tired either, i'm sure ramon's heart broken.
