I find that an interesting way to do this.

Or you see nahting?

Truthfully..I don't see it.

..and I never look at the political stuff as "art", if ya know what I mean...

I remember the glory days when DRF had a great cartoonist that made you want to buy the print edition even if you had the online PPs already. Then they fired him. Maybe they'll fire Andy Beyer and his figures next to ensure their total downfall.

...they usually get rid of the good stuff

AS is a certifiable POS

they usually don't need to be explained.

but i do recall that when the new yorker ran a controversial cover with a cartoon of obama and his wife doing a terrorist "fist bump", him in islamic dress and her with a 70's angela davis fro, the artist was all over the media explaining the cartoon was intended to mock the conservative media's idea that "bumping fists" was related to terrorism.

if either the post or the artist have an explanation, the clock is ticking.

We had a black gansta type getting shot by police
an apparent error, not that long ago. ONe cop standing
by very close by and watching.

We had a pet chimp go wild in Conn. and get shot on Monday.
By police.

Cartoon.
We got a scene on a street with two white goofy looking
cops doing the shooting and looking shocked.

We got a chimp.

And then we throw in the idea of killing the stimulus.

And the chimp wrote the bill.

There are lots of ways to look at this and I personally
I think it was meant to be blurry and explained in a number of ways.

If the intent was just to accidentally get rid of an idea
that was written by fool(s)- the chimp, using some other
side stories... it is an odd way to portray this. This just does not
pop on to a page without any forethought.

I think its funny because I find controversial humor to be funny. I still think its racist and did not belong in the newspaper... but I'm still going to laugh.

I tell jokes about all different races and genders and sexuality. Jokes are funny.

you really dont believe this do you? It had everything to do with our beloved President.

Still hilarious... but in bad taste.

Danzig 02-20-2009 09:27 AM

i didn't find the cartoon to be funny at all. but my first thought when i saw some thinking it was bashing our president was that i thought the attack was on our congress, they're the ones who wrote the bill...
at any rate, in poor taste all things considered.

Danzig 02-20-2009 11:17 AM

just read that the post apologized.

saying the cartoon was meant to mock the federal economic stimulus bill, but "to those who were offended by the image, we apologize.
and then i read this:

The Post is owned by News Corp., which also is the parent company of FOX News.

i didn't know that.

i didn't know that.

That's one of the reasons I take what they write with a grain of salt..much as the right treats the NY Times
