This is an interesting spot for El Gato Malo to make his turf debut. I see Dollase is 26% first turf with an RIO of $3.77, but I don't see much turf breeding in this one.

Gio Ponti looks best in here, but is no cinch from the 12 hole. Sky Cape should sit a nice trip and if he runs back to his La Jolla, he will be right there on the wire. Interesting race.

He just ran his first race after 6 months on the shelf and now second off he should run better. Guns on the Table will also run a huge race. His last race he held his own after a heated pace and hung in thier. If he settles second behind BBJ he can take it if BBJ decides not to run.

The Bet:

$50 WP on Guns on the Table

BBJ and GOTT included in Pick 3, Pick 4 bets.

Your just quoting fractions like they mean something without any context, the track was lightening fast that day, the pace figure for that race was about 100, BBJ can get >110 when he is right.

I would much prefer Guns on the Table to BBJ in terms of chance/price.

Now hopefully BBJ turns into one of the great sprinters of all time, it will make it easier on Flores mentally for giving up the mount on Zenyatta to stick with BBJ back in April.

Been raining off n' on for the last 18 hours or so. It's raining right now. I am by Hollwood Park. Moderate rain here seems to turn into a lot of rain at Anita.

I hit the pick 3 and I have 5 and 13 in the last for the pick 4.

You got the P4 going too?

eajinabi 12-26-2008 06:10 PM

Also a great ride (not neccesarily a nice looking win) by Gomez on Gio Pionti.
Had him settled early and instead of pulling wide, he slid through the middle to win it easily. Other jockeys should have had a V8

Gio Ponti looked very good, the track is very fair so the win seems pretty legit, and given the talent routing this winter he can wins some money.

That's why you got away soft up front in the Malibu.

the Into Mischief and Georgie Boy.

BBJ seems to have a special affinity for Santa Anita, and of course the track was super fair today compared to the fall which should not be overlooked. Makes beating Indian Blessing pretty improbable.

This Santa Anita was a different course than he ran over last winter.

It seems like the popular opinion on Santa Anita Pro Ride course is front runners can't hold on. Perhaps that might have happened in the fall when the temps were almost summer like. I was told that they had rain in So Cal the past few days. It didn't rain much during the OakTree meet. Maybe moisture in the track and/or cooler tempuratures changes things. We'll find out in the coming weeks.

As far as Bob Black Jack I believe it came down to the basics. He was the quickest horse who had no peers as front runners. When a speed horse sets his own pace he or she is tough to run down. The closers are running for second and in this case that is exactly what happened.

2 year olds (in the 6th, and the 3rd races) ran faster for 4f. What would you expect a decent 3 year old stakes horse do with a clear lead going slower than 2 year olds can go? Went about as fast (for the 1st 4f) as the 25 claimer Indian Weaver did in the the 5th. Rosario n' Bejarano took back at the start(cuz of what they saw G Ponti do in the 7th.) Georgie Boy looks done(to be honest.) I have no idea why Victor was way off of about the pace that a 25 claimer ran earlier. G PONTI's race from the very back got these guys over-thinking. They saw raters win the previous 2 sprints. That combined with G PONTI coming from dead last (and drawing away) messed with their heads. Trainer says B JACK can now rate. We will find out. He's not gunna be getting away that slowly anytime soon.

I agree all the way, the third race was a stronger race buy a first time starter but what do you want me to say to the poster when I was completely wrong on BBJ? I will be against the winner against better sprinters next month.
