Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I'm in it for entertainment purposes, and I wholeheartedly disagree

I'd completely understand what's going on without an announcer, as long as the graphics that show the first four horses are accurate and the fractions show up on the upper right or left corner.

For me, the announcer is good for entertainment. But I have good enough eyes that I can track my horse without him.

Yeah, that one is an all time classic

I'm glad you agree. For a moment there I might have detected some sarcasm.

John Dooley is not a candidate for the Churchill job. He never even applied.

I am obviously a friend of Travis' and am hopeful he gets the job. (provided Andy Serling doesn't want it)

I don't think so

Trakus doesn't work so well when your listening to the calls on ATR

Interesting concept at Churchill Downs

Congratulations to all five candidates for Churchill Downs race calling gig.

I will openly admit that I am biased in favor of Travis Stone. He brings rare mix of youth, experience and maturity. Travis really reaches out and makes connection with racing fans and handicappers -- both on-line and in person. He and I have traded message over last two Louisiana Downs meets and I enjoy his perspective on thoroughbred racing today.

His youth (24 years old), experience (race calling at Louisiana Downs), and maturity (genuine student of thoroughbred racing since grade school) present Churchill Downs with unique opportunity to attract next generation of patrons. CD's approach is novel and will garner attention during its upcoming fall meet. Go, Travis, Go!

John G. Dooley is current CDI employee and does excellent job at Fair Grounds and Arlington Park. His brand value may have greater worth through his continuing work at these two historic venues rather than moving to CD job. Unless CDI or he makes statement, no one will know reason (or reasons) that he was not included in this group of race callers. Personally, I am glad that John will continue calling races at Fair Grounds each winter.

If he gets the job, will Travis be discussing the state of the economy between races??:$: :$:

Good Luck Travis....hope you get the gig:tro:

hoovesupsideyourhead 10-03-2008 10:24 PM

good luck travis ..but id like to see kurt becker get it

SCUDSBROTHER 10-03-2008 10:57 PM

Travis Johnson it is.

blackthroatedwind 10-03-2008 11:27 PM

Regardless of who gets the job, it is a great compliment to Travis that after announcing full time for under two years he is even being considered for the position. He's already a big winner.
