Yeah...he was fast. That loss in the KB had to be heartbreaking because he was clear with like 100 yards to go before H and G caught him at the wire.

If memory serves me right, Honour and Glory was ten tons the best that day and got a terrible ride by Santos. I'll have to go check Youtube.

But, you're right, Elusive Quality was pretty good on the dirt. His big turf wins were aided by extremely hard turf at Belmont.

An odd ride, maybe, but just a good race ultimately. Losing to Honour and Glory in a photo, regardless of circumstances, was no easy feat. He was a tremendously talented horse.

I was thinking the same thing. Another great example of why some of us get annoyed with some of the recent horses anointed with greatness.

In watching that replay, the announcer called H and G the highweight. How was the kings bishop weighted back then and when did they change to equal weights?

if i never cashed on him, he'd still be a monster.... Gary Stevens, who i look at as a top 5 all time Jockey, says Rock Hard Ten is the best horse he ever sat on.

Here's one to feel good about.. I just uploaded his maiden race.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POe1OnbgNIg

It's amazing he held his form for as long as he did in 1996, he danced just about every dance possible that year...

By the way, that race with H&G, DH and EQ, someone commented on Youtube that the 2nd and 3rd place finishers each sired a derby winner, and that H&G's best shot at one died.

Any idea who that might be?
