That's okay, ARLJIM, we can still talk horses on other threads.

Communication can be a bit "funny" sometimes with strangers in a chat room/internet forum. Perhaps I overstated my ability to civilly discuss politics with a Bush-Cheney supporter

I can always put up a multitude of polls on some category here on DT, find out where we all stand on issues like abortion, gay marriage, death penalty, etc.

I might be able to have a pleasant afternoon with "W.", but even at my calmest, I still think I'd take a swing at Cheney

somerfrost 08-23-2008 02:32 PM

I know better than to get into a political discussion here....just mark me down as one vote for Obama.

pgardn 08-23-2008 02:33 PM

Biden is perfect.
He can play the attack dog while Obama remains above the fray.
Biden will go after anybody with gusto.
Classic nice guy bad guy ticket.

Covers the foreign affair hole.

pgardn 08-23-2008 02:38 PM

but first and foremost because Biden is simply not likable

I do like Dick Cheney quite a bit

Gadzooks Batman!
The parallel's between these two are astounding, just from different parties.

Mortimer 08-23-2008 03:22 PM

Biden is a sourpuss.

I don't like Joe nor Osama or John.....I like IKE!

somerfrost 08-23-2008 03:26 PM

Ike was the man...he got away with having a mistress for most of his life while slick Willie caught hell for one little knob job!

ArlJim78 08-23-2008 03:45 PM

it has a certain ring to it.

Obama bin Biden '08

VP picked for presidents considered weak on foreign affairs.
Both are very opinionated and will tell one to go to hell
thus trying to maintain the good guy image of their running mate.
Both very experienced in Washington... Its a huge parallel for
diff. parties.

Hard to see I guess if you are partisan.

You dont like Biden and you do like Cheney?
I bet you also liked Tom Delay and hate Nancy Pelosi.
Cheney is so cuddly.
I dont mind getting shot in the face either.

Biden is simply not likeable but Cheney is...
Alrighty then.

trifecta124 08-23-2008 04:10 PM

John McCain and whoever the hell he picks are going to win by a landslide.

Even with Mitt?

The Mormon (I have no concern for the candidates religious preference, if any, but it seems most of the country does. Biden's Irish-Catholic they say. So am I)

Mitt, the rich pansy looking guy that McCain despises?

I think whatever choice McCain makes it will be a letdown.

Alan Keyes would be a good choice for McCain(lol), offset the race issue and secure the relgious right base

Of course, if he were to pick his good friend Hillary Clinton, would he win in a landslide despite the Christian conservatives all staying home?

Biden/LaBamba would have been better. Biden is the most qualified of any canadate. I think they have forgotten the South though.

Could be trouble

Biden is a staunch liberal. I know plenty of Democrats that can't stomach Biden. If the Dems aren't fond of him, why would middle of the road voters back him. This is a huge mistake for Obama.

You may be correct. After all, he's only been elected to six Senate terms. You should expect no less than another 36 years before you think he's well regarded.

Being elected to six senate terms in a Democrat state is not the same as being center stage as a VP candidate. Obama needed to bring independent voters onto his side. Picking Biden as his VP certainly will not do that. McCain is a moderate Republican who appeals to moderate Dems. Obama added someone to his ticket who may be more Liberal than he.

I thought you wrote that Democrats don't like Biden.

I know plenty that do not. I do not live in Deleware, but I can guarantee that Deleware voters will not be deciding the presidential election this year.
